Higher grade level transition to high school was
associated with increased dropout rates.
The gap between dropout rates of male vs. female
students increased as the grade level of transition
to high school increased.
IMPORTANT!!!!!
Lee and Smith (1997) found a relationship
between total high school enrollment and student
learning. They suggest using the Schools-Within-
Schools Program concept to reduce class size and
increase learning. Starting transitioning programs
early on from intermediate school to middle school
and from middle school to high school to reduce
drop out rates among students (Alspaugh, 2000).

PEER-REVIEWED DEFINED: When publishing an academic
article it must first be considered valued or respected
among a group of peers in the same academic field
before it is published.
The author of the publication will submit it to an editor
and the editor will pass it on to experts in the field for a
peer review.
The peers have the ability to accept or reject the
publication based on whether or not they feel it has
validity.
If an article is chosen to be published it is considered to
be among the best in the field because of the rigorous
review it has underwent.
HOW TO FIND A PEER-REVIEWED ARTICLE: The best way
to locate a peer-reviewed article is to use an online library
and to check the box that indicates peer-reviewed when
searching for articles on any academic subject.
