Kynan Sims HOW DOES MY MAGAZINE REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS?
I believe my magazine represents social class of E as
the magazine is a music magazine about rap, the genre of rap has a stereotype of black males that wear baggy clothes that are known to be violent, which is why the targeted audience is the social group E as they would more likely listen to the rap genre rather than someone in the social group A/B who would maybe listen to classic music. My magazine is also aimed for people around ages 16-25 as the younger people are more likely to be interested in my magazine based on its genre and content. HOW DOES MY MAGAZINE REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS USING IMAGES?
The images within my
magazine represent social groups by the way that the artists within my product are dressed. The artists are seen wearing t-shirts and jeans with trainers with hoodies, this represents that they are not higher class and do not wear formal clothing like suits. HOW DOES MY MAGAZINE REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS THROUGH TYPOGRAPHY?
The typography and
language used within my magazine is large bold font, this is because my magazine is informal and uses slang and modern English. This represents the social groups of the magazine as it says that the people reading will be someone who is lower class rather than someone who is higher class which may listen HOW DOES MY MAGAZINE REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS USING COLOURS?
I used colours such as red
because it suggests that the artists make music about violence and stressful moments which represents the I also used the colour white as it contrast well lower class social class as with the colour red and higher class people are is also a very neutral colour. stereotypically known to be less violent and more respectful and calm compared to the lower class which are more stereotypically known to WHAT KIND OF INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE MY MAGAZINE AND WHY?
I believe an institution like Time Inc. UK would be best to
distribute my magazine as the have over 350 million copies previously sold from other magazines they distribute such as; NME, Look, Uncut and others. This institution would be able to distribute my magazine to a wider audience as they already have a large audience that buy their other magazines. My magazine will be distributed throughout shops but can also be distributed through digital ways through mobile phones or personal computers, this will allow for a gain in a fan base. WHAT KIND OF INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE MY MAGAZINE AND WHY?
Time Inc also produces similar productions to mine
such as NME which is a music magazine which focuses on less popular music. NME have produced magazines about artists such as Kendrick Lemar and Jay-Z which are similar to my artists used within my magazine. NME has a large fan base and I think that Time Inc can also distribute my magazine to similar figures as NME. Time Inc have also produced other well known magazine such as Look which gets roughly 116,000 viewers of the product through print and digital distribution.
