Camera - Lumix G10
We used the LumixG10 in order to film our trailer as well as
for the pictures for our magazine cover and film poster.
Through our trailer we were able to use this shot to create a
depth of field shot. This is shown in the picture below and we
did this so that the audience could focus on the phone and so
that the other areas could be blurred out.

Moreover, we also used

the camera to do
aclose-up shot of a
phone which we had to
focus on the phone so
that it was clear to read
the writing that was on
it without getting a
glare from the camera.
 Slik compact tripod

We were able to get long shots and make

them stable through the use of this tripod
and this therefore allowed us to have a
more professional look within our trailer.

We used the Slik compact tripod and it was highly effective due
to the fact that it allowed us tochange the height of the tripod in
order to enable us to get all of the angles and heights thatwe
needed for our shots whilst still being able to get stable shots
whichprevented a shaky camera which could have had an effect
on the quality of our trailer and therefore to prevent this, we used
This tripod enabled us to get the perfect high
the tripod in all of our shots. angle shot which made our character look
vulnerable which was exactly what we wanted to
portray as the audience would then feel sorry for
her.
 Final Cut
For our teaser trailer, we used a software called Final Cut to edit our work. This has allowed us to use the
timeline to edit clips from the bins where we arranged all of our clips that we were going to use. After doing
this, we dragged them onto the timeline in the order that we wanted each clip to be play
The timeline allowed us to edit our titles together through layering which was especially essential for our
titles as we had to layer three texts in order for them to be presented and to come one under the other.

Tool Bar: This razor tool allowed us to cut bits out of the trailer
that we did not want in and this allowed us to have good
continuity because it allowed us to only leave in bits that
we wanted to have in our trailer.

This pen tool was alsoeffective in our trailer and this is due to the fact that it allowed us to alter the sound of
our music. This was really effective seeing as we still wanted the music in the background and therefore
needed to alter the sound of that so that we could hear that as well as the voiceover which was layered on
top. This also enabled us to create crescendos in our trailer which made a difference in our trailer. We also
wanted to changethe legatos and set-tos of the sound throughout the trailer in order to heighten the
crucialmoments and therefore to do this we had to click the mountain tool at the bottom of the page in the
left hand cornerand then on thepen tool of the right hand side ofthe software which then allowed us to
pickspecific points within our tracks and change the sound to be either louder or quieter.
 Final
cut
We also used the color wheel in opening and closing scene
and this is due to the weather circumstances that we filmed
in, the sky was looking grey especially in the opening scene
and therefore left a cold tone. However, in romantic dramas
there is always warmer tones used and therefore we
changed it to a more orange/red tone in order to make the
sky look like the sun was setting in the opening scene.

As well as this, we also added in a lot of transitions especially

during the fast paced montage of Abby and Logan and Logan
and Caroline. This was so that all of the clips had continuity
between them in order for them to flow. In order to do this, we
had to click on which ever section of the clip we wanted a
transition and then click on window then click effects and then
which ever transition we wanted to have.
 Adobe Photoshop
We used Adobe Photoshop in order to create both our film poster as well as our magazine cover. We had to upload our
chosen photo and then adjust the image and layer the text on top as well as any other images to create our final
products.

When it came to the stars onthe poster, there is a shape tool onPhotoshop
however, they were not the right size so we had to use google images and
save the image of a white star and then place it onto the film poster.
To ensure that the stars were in a straight line we copied and pasted them and
merged thelayers together so that if we had to move them to a different area
on the poster, they wouldall move together.

Weused the magic wand tool on Photoshop to goover the section of the
image that we did not want and this is was the background of the stars. This
allowed us to get a sharper edge for the stars which made them look
professional.

Technology
YouTube
YouTube is the main website that we used throughout this course. This is as this is where I
have uploaded the trailer, all of my commentaries and my pitch which I did with my partner.
YouTube also helped me in the research stage as it allowed me to look at other romantic
drama trailers and this gave me an insight to the codes and conventions of the romantic
drama genre. When we could not find theofficial trailer on YouTube that is when wewould
search on IMDB.
It helped usto look up the trailers we have analysed in our construction stage and andalso
look at what the other trailers institutions were so that we could see what we could use in
ourtrailer as well as what type of typography we should use, the narrative ideas and what
background music we should use.
We decided to upload our trailer to YouTube as it is therefore easier to upload onto our blogs
on WordPress as well as allows us to gain feedback not only from our target audience but a
wider audience.
IMDB, Scribd and WordPress
We used IMDB in our research stage as this is where we researched other films that
didn't have official trailers on YouTube and by doing this, it helped us come up with
our storyline as we were influenced by the other films.
Scribd and WordPress were very important interms of how we presented ourwhole
A2 coursework and this is as all of our work was uploaded onto WordPress as this is
where our blogs were. Scribd is a website that we used where we would upload our
word documents and presentations before we embedded the Scribd link onto our
WordPress blogs.
WordPress also allowed me to put my coursework in chronological order which
made it easier to findmy posts as well as this, it also allowed me to embedother
links fromother multimedia sources such asYouTube which was essential for when I
was uploading my trailer and other projects.
 Survey Monkey, DaFont, Google
Images and Facebook
We used Survey Monkey to produce a survey that we could use to find out what our
target audience thought about our final task as well as if it complemented our media
project package of the trailer, film poster and magazine cover.
We used DaFont in order to download the font that we needed for our billing block,
this was essential as it meant that we did not have to worry about the size of the font
as well as the spacing between each word.
We mainly used Google images for our research and planning and this wasto get
images forthe different magazine covers and film posters for all thedifferent films
that we analysed.
Facebook was used in order to our link to our survey so that our target audience could
see it. We also uploaded our film poster and magazine cover as well as the link to our
trailer so that our target audience could see all three of them before answering our
survey.
