HIGH SCHOOL
( Brgy. Canarvacanan, Binalonan, Pangasinan)
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A Gymnasium is a room or building equipped for indoor sports. It is a kind of recreational sports
facility considered in a secondary school which focused on preparing students to enter
auniversityfor advanced academic study, physical education programs, sports competition,
and many other recreational uses for a number of years. Gymnasiums are virtually in all
universities andhigh school, as well as almost allmiddle schoolsandelementary school. These
facilities are used for physical education, intramural sports, and school gatherings.

For the past 14 years, there is a 15% increase in the student population of Juan G. Macaraeg
national high school (JGMNHS) and it is still expected to increase because of the implementation
of K-12. In addition to that, school gatherings and events are held in the social hall of the
school, wherein a lot of students are found drifting beside the social hall of the school since it
doesnt have room for all students. Furthermore, open spaces and pathways are used by the
students for their physical education activities and sports competitions thus, they are directly
exposed to sun as well as cancelling their pe subject during rainy season.

With this regard, a gymnasium is proposed within the school. The fund will come from landbank
as a loan. The money from the from rental stalls, gymnasium rentals, church seminars, and
student development fund can be used to pay the premium of the loan. With a gymnasium,
there will be enough accommodation for all the students and they will be a lot more
comfortable. Above all, it helps the student to maintain and improve their national
competitiveness by means of a much improved education and facilities.

Educational facilities are considered indispensable to a school. The availability of an
acceptable building is an important requirement for its operation. They do not only provide
housing for the school but also serve as a facilitating agent for all the educational facilities
that take place in a school. Thus, the proposed school gymnasium at Juan G. Macaraeg
National High school will provide a safe, secured, adequate and satisfactory educational
facility that will support the development, teaching and learning process of the students
and ultimately improve the quality of basic education.

The proposed school gymnasium will benefit the school during school events, gatherings
and sports competition. Through this gymnasium, they will no longer rent facilities outside
the school to conduct their events and also students will no longer be exposed to direct
sunlight during their intramurals and physical education activities. With this school
gymnasium, the school will have better venue and accessibility to held programs.

In terms of the upliftment of the living standards of people, the school gymnasium having
its rental stalls will provide employment to the local municipality of binalonan. It will also
make available shelter and a safe place for the townspeople in times of calamities. And
being part of the society, the gymnasium will also contribute to the improvements and
development of the town.
PROJECT SUMMARY
A. JUAN G. MACARAEG NHS Gymnasium
The name of the proposed gymnasium would be JUAN G.
MACARAEG NHS Gymnasium derived from the name of the school
which the planned project will be located.

B. JUAN G. MACARAEG NHS Gymnasium, Barangay

Canarvacanan, Binalonan, Pangasinan
Juan G. Macaraeg National High School is a secondary level school
which produces well prepared students to enter auniversity. Since
there is an increased population of the school for the past 14 years,
the school is in need of a much improved educational facilities or
place to accommodate students for their Physical Education Activities,
Recreational Activities, Sports Competitions and other school events.
Given that the proposed gymnasium will be constructed inside the
school premises, it will be sited at Barangay Canarvacanan, Binalonan
Pangasinan along Mac Arthur Highway where JUAN G. NHS is located.
C. DESCRIPTIVE DEFINITION OF THE PROJECT

Nowadays, the availability of an acceptable building is an important

requirement for schools operation, that is why educational facilities
such as Gymnasium are considered indispensable to a school. This
realization lead the government to address the need of every school
to fulfil the need of a better venue and accessibility to held programs.
The principal, through the school administrator saw urgent need of a
facility to house their school events and physical education activities
in the face of the common concern and interest.
This project is a result of thorough research, extensive consultation
and collaboration with expert individuals. The major goal of this
project is to help provide a convenient environment during their
Physical Education Activities and school events that is conducive to
effective teaching and learning. As a result, better opportunities will
come.
D. PROJECT LONG RANGE OBJECTIVES

The proposed Gymnasium at Juan G. Macaraeg National high school has a capacity of 2000
students. Because of the growing student population, it is expected that for the next 10 years,
volume of students will increase by 15% and that expansion will be necessary. Seating capacity will
increase by 15% by providing a second level of bleachers to accommodate more students. It is also
expected that the Gymnasium will be known to the athletes of Binalonan and neighboring town and
that it would be a practicing area for them. But most importantly, this project is expected to
provide a safe, secured and adequate place for the townspeople and neighboring town in times of
calamities.

E. FEASIBILITY CRITERIA

Educational Facilities are valuable assets of the school that have to be given priority attention in
terms of its establishment, development, and maintenance. The feasibility study is about
educational facility which will be a major support system of the high school to enhance the learning
capabilities of the students for the maximum development of their potentials, skills, talents and to
become God-loving, law-abiding and responsible citizens of this country. Also, commercial stalls are
managed to include in the plan to generate income. Thus the criteria for the feasibility study are: to
provide comfortable and proper learning environment for the students, to increase the income of
JUAN G. NHS that will enhance the socio-economic feature of the school.
F. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROJECT
From the school administrators office, there is an increased young population that enrolled at their
alma matter, Juan G. Macaraeg National High School, this school year and for the past 14 years and
in all probability, it will continue to increase. As momentary solution for this matter, the school
constructed temporary rooms but it doesnt have room for all students when significant events are
held. Also, one-third of the students population have daily gym classes and open space and
pathways are used for their physical education activities thus, they are directly exposed to sun in
addition to pushing back the schedule for their subject during rainy season.
To take in hand this problem, a school gymnasium is proposed having a capacity of 2000. From
Feasibility Study state to construction of the project, it will take 56 weeks and 3 weeks after the
construction and building inspection is completed, the gymnasium will be operated.

The fund will come from the landbank as a loan. The money from the Rental Stalls, Gymnasium
Rentals, Church Seminars, and Student Development fund can be used to gradually pay the loan.

The total project cost is PHP 16,212,136.38. 3% of the project cost will be allocated to
mobilization and demobilization; 3% percent of the project cost will be allocated to contingency
cost; 21.1% of the project cost will be allocated to labor cost ; 60.2% of the project cost will be
allocated to material cost, 2.2% will be allocated to professional fee during feasibility study. and
lastly, 10.5% of the total project cost will be allocated to tax.

RECOMMENDATION
There are many different activities that take place in a
gymnasium, particularly educational activities. Juan G. Macaraeg
national high school (JGMNHS) doesnt have a facility to held
such activities, thats why constructing the jgmnhs gymnasium is
a valuable asset of the school that have to be given priority
attention to enhance the learning capabilities of the students for
the maximum development of their potentials, skills, talents and
to become god-loving, law-abiding, value-laden and responsible
citizens of this country, thus, construction of the proposed
gymnasium should start immediately. It is also recommended
that during construction, works involving clearing and grubbing
of the area or any activity that may affect the concentration of
the students during class hours should be scheduled after class
and during weekends to avoid noise pollution.
