WALL CLADDING and
PANELLING
Though usually non-structural in nature, it may be
functional in addition to decorative.
This can include a degree of water-proofing, a
barrier against the wind, sound, fire, or heat.
Cladding can take a number of different forms, be
made from many different materials.
Some of the popular materials for cladding include
various metals, stone, Brick Tile, PVC, Wood,
Vitreous tiles, Paneling and composite sidings.
Panelling is not to be confused with cladding.
While they can look quite similar, and both can add
style and warmth to a space, panelling materials do
not offer the durable, protective qualities that high
quality, durable cladding brings.
Wall cladding is usually applied to external areas that
may be exposed to the elements.
Panelling, however, is designed for out-of-weather
use, particularly interiors or out-of-weather external
walls and ceilings.
Panelling should not be exposed to the elements, as it
is geared towards aesthetics more than durability.
