Pressurisation
This is normally done by the use of a Cam
working on a plunger in the injector

Can also been done by Hydraulic pressure (HEUI)


or by an external pump (Common Rail)

Timing:
Timing is achieved by when the solenoid is
activated,

Earlier = advanced

Later = retarded

Metering:

This is achieved by the duration that


the solenoid is activated

Atomisation

Occurs through the normal process of


a hydraulic injector;
