MODALISM

Luke Garbin
Jacob Swidorsky
WHEN IT BEGAN AND ENDED
It began in early third century
A man named Sabellius is often given the credit for spreading the view
The first man to introduce it was Praxeas and it was first preached by
Noetus of Smyrna
The belief is still alive today in the United Pentecostal Church which is a
church branched from Protestantism
MODALISM
Modalism denies the Trinity
It is the belief that the three persons of the Trinity represent three modes
of God
Teaches that God can be appoint with three different names each at a
different time
WHY IT WAS WRONG
The Catholic Church teaches that there are three persons in one God
Modalism teaches that the Trinity is simply three modes of one God
This is wrong as we know that the Trinity is comprised of three persons
and not three modes
WHO FOUGHT AGAINST IT
HOW WAS IT DEFEATED
