adius of the cell. The cell radius is used to identify over coverage. I
ndoor cells are not taken into account and must be specified in the
CellType field. Otherwise, indoor cells will be considered as macro
cells. The figure on the right shows the radiuses of cells. You can s
et whether to display the cell radius by layer. Each line indicates th
e radius of a cell. To modify the radius of a cell, double-click the lin

Automatic Import

Procedure: Create a project, choose File from the menu, and select Automatic Analysis Setting.
Assistant provides the following auto import modes:
Scheduled auto analysis (Time Mode): This mode is applicable to auto drive test scenarios. The data is u
ploaded in real time to a directory of the auto drive test server. You can set the time, execution times, and
directory.
Triggered auto analysis (OK.TXT file): This mode is applicable to network optimization. The drive test eng
ineers provide the test data, and the analysis engineers obtain the test data and put it in a specified direc
tory. When the test is performed, an OK.TXT file is generated. The server can automatically import the fil
e, which saves time.

Customizing KPI-Counting KPIs

You can customize two types of KPIs in the software. One is the counter KPI which records the times that an event happ
ens and is logically simple. The other is the calculation KPI which is used to obtain a result based on certain algorithms.
For example, for "average call setup delay", you must create two counter KPIs, which are the total call setup delay and t
he number of calls. You can obtain the average call setup delay by dividing the total call setup delay by the number of ca
lls.

Customizing KPI-Calculation KPIs

Calculation KPI: You can use calculation KPIs or available functions in the system to calculate the result of, for example,
the call drop rate shown in the preceding figure, according to a specific data expression. Available functions are Averag
e, Count, Max, Min, and Sum, for example, KPI(Call Drop Rate) = Count(EVENT(GSMCallDropped)) / (Count(EVENT(G
SMIncomingCallSetup)) + Count(EVENT(GSMOutgoingCallSetup)))*100.

The sampling points of pilot pollution must meet the following conditions: The quantity of the pilots whose
strength is larger than or equal to -100 dBm is larger than or equal to 4, and the differences between the
strongest pilot and other pilots is smaller than 4 dBm.
Serving RSRP 1st Neighbor RSRP

Indicates the difference between the serving cell and the neighboring cell. It is applicable in the following
scenarios:
Statistics on handovers: Intra-frequency handover depends on the difference between the pilot stre
ngth of the serving cell and that of the neighboring cell. When the difference is larger than a certain
threshold and smaller than a certain threshold, intra-frequency handover occurs. Assistant collects s
tatistics on handovers based on the difference.
Statistics on handover exceptions: Assistant collects statistics on handover exceptions by checking
whether the difference between the signal strength of the serving cell and that of the neighboring cel
l is smaller than a certain threshold.

LTE Over Coverage Analysis

Over coverage refers that the actual coverage of a cell exceeds the planned one and becomes a discontinuous servi
ng cell in the area covered by other eNodeBs. Assistant can calculate the radius of a cell based on the engineering p
arameter data. If the distance between a drive test point and the cell center exceeds the radius of the cell and the diff
erence between the RSRP value of the serving cell and that of the strongest neighboring cell is smaller than the confi
gured one, the drive test point is affected by over coverage. Currently, Assistant supports only data analysis.

Copyright 2012 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page 78
LTE No Serving Cell Dominance

If no serving cell exists or handovers too frequently occur in a region, the service
quality is affected, and call drops frequently occur. Assistant identifies whether a
region has a serving cell by checking whether the difference between the RSRP value
(in the data reported by a UE or scanner) of the serving cell and that of the
neighboring cell is smaller than a threshold.

WCDMA Over Coverage Analysis

Over coverage refers that the actual coverage of a cell exceeds the planned one and becomes a discontinuous serving cell in the area cover
ed by other NodeBs. Assistant can calculate the radius of a cell based on the engineering parameter data. If the distance between a drive te
st point and the cell center exceeds the radius of the cell and the difference between the RSCP value of the serving cell and that of the stron
gest neighboring cell is smaller than the configured one, the drive test point is affected by over coverage. Currently, Assistant can analyze th
e data reported by both UEs and scanners.

WCDMA No Serving Cell Dominance

If no serving cell exists or handovers too frequently occur in a region, the service quality is affected, and call
drops frequently occur. Assistant identifies whether a region has a serving cell by checking whether the diffe
rence between the RSCP value (in the data reported by a UE or scanner) of the serving cell and that of the
neighboring cell is smaller than a threshold or whether handovers too frequently occur in the region (based
on the data reported by UEs only). If the quantity of handovers that occur within a period exceeds the prese
t threshold, the region has no serving cell.

Copyright 2012 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page 81
WCDMA Downlink Interference

An interference source exists on the downlink band of the mobile network. When a UE receive
s the interference signal, the UE cannot identify normal NodeB signals. As a result, the connec
tion between the UE and the NodeB is affected, and call drop occurs. Assistant checks the EC
/IO and RSCP values of the serving cell by parsing the data reported by the UE or scanner. If t
he RSCP value is high but the EC/IO value is low, the UE is affected by downlink interference.

WCDMA Intra-Frequency/Inter-Frequency Ne
ighboring Cell Analysis

Assistant can analyze missing intra-frequency/inter-frequency neighboring cells. Assistant aut

omatically checks the relationship between the serving cell and neighboring cell at each sampl
ing point, compares the live network data with the imported engineering parameter data, and i
dentifies the missing neighboring cells. Only the data reported by scanners is supported. The
data of the existing neighboring cells must be imported before the analysis.

WCDMA Pilot Pollution Analysis

When many strong pilots exist at a sampling point but no pilot is strong enough to act as the s
erving pilot, the sampling point is considered as pilot-polluted. Assistant can check whether th
e serving cell and the measured cell are neighboring cells and find out the pollution point by a
nalyzing the drive test data reported by the UE and scanner.

GSM Over Coverage Analysis

Over coverage refers that the actual coverage of a cell exceeds the planned scope and becomes a di
scontinuous serving cell in the area covered by other BTSs. Assistant can calculate the radius of a cel
l based on the engineering parameter data. If the distance between the cell center and the drive test
point exceeds the cell radius, the drive test point is affected by over coverage.

GSM Poor Coverage Analysis

Poor coverage refers that the signal within the coverage of a cell is lower than the minimum ac
cess threshold of MSs. In this case, MSs cannot camp on the cell or initiate location update or
registration. As a result, disconnection occurs. Assistant can analyze the level of the serving c
ell and check whether a cell is affected by poor coverage based on the GSM MS measuremen
t data. For details about the parameters, see the notes.

GSM Azimuth Garbled

Garbled azimuth refers that the azimuth of an RET antenna is incorrect. Garbled a
zimuth affects the coverage. Assistant checks whether the azimuth configuration is
correct at a drive test point by checking the angle between the drive test point and t
he serving cell based on the GSM MS measurement data.

GSM No Serving Cell Dominance

If no serving cell exists or handovers too frequently occur in a region, the service quality is affe
cted, and call drops frequently occur. Assistant checks whether a region has a serving cell by
checking whether the difference between the Rxlev value (in the data reported by a UE or sca
nner) of the serving cell and that of the neighboring cell is smaller than the preset threshold. If
the difference is smaller than the preset threshold, the region has no serving cell.
