retinitis pigmentosa, dry eyes and many others are increasing
day by day.

Ayurveda being holistic in nature offers the successful
treatments for diseases of nerves and retina.

Ayurvedic Therapies like Netradhara, Anjanam, Nasya,


Shirodhara, Tharpana, etc. are done in a specialised way to

Ayurvedic Eye Treatment is maintaining a balance of 3
doshas.

The major treatment procedures are Tharpana, Nethradhara,


Nasya, Virechana, Shirodhara, Shirovasti, Anjanam,
Aschotanam, Pindi and Vidalaka.
1. Tharpanam

During the treatment procedure, a pool of mild warm oil is


retained for a particular period over specific areas as per the
conditions.
2. Netra Dhara

In this process of pouring liquid form of medicine into the


inner canthus of eyes from the desired height for
recommended number of times as per condition.
3. Aschotanam

Means application of a liquid form of medicine as drops into


the eyes.

It is very helpful in treating some eye diseases.


4. Nasyam

It is the nasal treatment of medications.

It is a very powerful therapy for all systemic disorders


especially those related to the head and neck.
5. Virechanam

It is a purificatory method used in eliminating the vitiated


humour in more quantity with less stress.

It is very much effective in Skin disorders, Hemiplegia,


Jaundice, Bronchial asthma and various eye disorders.
6. Sneha Paanam

It the oral consumption of Sneham.

It is done with Ghrutham. It is considered as the main


procedure in treating severe disorders like infertility,
psychiatric diseases and degenerative eye disorders of the
retina.
7. Shirodhara

In this process of pouring liquid type of medicine like thailam


or thakram constantly for 50-60 min in a temple.

It is supportive in curing nervous disorders, anxiety,


insomnia, mental stress, migraine, etc.
8. Shirovasthi

It is a procedure of retaining warm medicated oil in a cap-


like structure fitted on the head.

Normally this procedure will be done for at least 35-50 min


for 7 days maximum.

This is considered as one of the furthermost treatment for


the head.
