INFRASTRUCTURE AND ECONOMIC
GROWTH
According to the publication of World Development Report (World Bank in
1994), infrastructure has an important role in increasing economic growth
wherein economic growth is higher that found in areas with sufficient
infrastructure.
The World Bank (1994) classifying the infrastructure into 3:
1. Economic infrastructure: road, dam, sanitation, railway, etc.
2. Sosial Infrastructure: education, health, housing, recreation.
3. Administration Infrastructure: law enforcement.

In this research, we chose roads as variable of research.

CAUSES OF DAMAGED ROADS IN RIAU

Many number of heavy vehicles such as trucks.


Poor drainage causes puddles when it rains. Puddle causing damage to
roads.
Capacity of roads construction is not as needed. Capacity of road
construction required 10 tons, but only 8 tons was built.
Soil structure composed of peat and clay, so well planned is required.
SOLUTION

Best planning for better road infrastructure.


Constructing more roads to increasing the economic growth.
Increasing budget allocations for roads construction.
