EFFECT OF NUTRITION

ON FISH GROWTH
METHODS
Specific growth rate (SGR)
SGR = 100 [ (ln(W2)-ln(W1)) / (t2-t1) ]
where W2 and W1 are weights on days t2 and t1,
respectively.
Effect of Fish Protein Replacement in Diets for
Juvenile Turbot Scophthalmus Maximus
In this journal discussed about the use of FMP (Fish Meal
Protein) for replacment (PP) Plant Proteni and its effect
on the growth of Juvenile Turbot Scophthalmus Maximus.
The experiment was based on 252 fish, which were
distributed randomly into 9 tanks (3 replicate tanks per
diet) and marked with Passive Integration Transponders
(PIT tags) for calculations of growth rates. Initial weight
was 140 37 g (mean SD) and total average biomass in
each tank was 3.88 0.17 kg (mean SD). No fish died
during the experiment.
The experiment was initiated on 10 November, 2011 and
terminated on 28 March, 2012. Three fish meal protein
(FMP) substitution levels were used in the present trail:
93% FMP (no substitution), 73% FMP and 53% FMP.
Complete replacement of fish meal by unconventional proteins
sources in diet of Oreochromis niloticus (L., 1758) fingerlings:
growth performance, feed utilization and body composition
In this journal discussed about valuating the effect of total
replacement of fish meal by mixing unconventional proteins sources
such as Azolla filiculoides, Dialium guineense leaf, brewers yeast and
maggot as protein source in the diets of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis
niloticus) in order to determine the growth performances and feed
utilization.
The experiment was on a period of 42 days. And shows that the final
mean weight (FW) and the daily weight gain (DWG) in the test diets
(13.66 to 14.84g) were lower than those obtained by reference diet
(18.45g) with P<0.05 The same observation was made with the SGR
(1.17-1.33 vs 1.83% day-1) and PI (4.24-4.85 vs 5.80) in diet.
The survival rate was not affected by the experimental diets, in the
same way for the FCR and the PER, except the diet A1 (P<0.05).
Productive Protein Values (PPV) were between fin the reference diet
A0 and 2 (0.39 vs 0.35 respectively) re are no significant difference
with P>0.05 Threonine appears with methionine like factors limiting in
test diets.
