A Gas Turbine is an Internal Combustion Engine
whose working principle is based on Brayton cycle.
Here the atmospheric air is sucked by the 18
stage axial flow compressor through air inlet filters and
evaporative cooling system and pressurised upto 15
bar. The compressed air goes to 6 nos of combustion
chambers where natural gas is injected for combustion.
The hot gases obtained as a product of
combustion drives the gas turbine and ultimately goes
to the Heat Recovery Steam Generator for steam
generation.

On giving start command the Starting Motor runs to its full speed 3000 rpm,
Torque converter makes the assembly to run at various speeds for various
modes like cranking, firing, warm up, Acceleration etc. At 90 % of full speed
of turbine The Torque converter isolates the Starting motor and GT will be
sustaining and after 5 minutes Starting motor got stopped on auto.

There are 4 flame scanners named #A, #B, #C
and #D . At least two flames should be available
otherwise the GT will trip on

Action : Check CCW flow to flamescanners. If OK
check the scanners and then go for actual
check.

GT will trip on L.O pr. Low @ 1 KSc
Action : Start Standby LOP as quick as possible
from Mark-V or module. Check DC EOP started on
Auto. Otherwise start it quickly.
LubeOil Header temp. High Trip: ( 2 sensors)
GT will trip at L.O temp = 79 deg.C
Action : Check CCW flow to coolers. Start additional
pumps and check the bearing areas and vibrations
and lube oil return flow locally.

IGV Control Trouble Trip :
CSRGV = IGV Reference CSGV = IGV actual
IGV Min : 27 DGA and Max : 84 DGA

If CSGV is less than CSRGV by 7.5 DGA for 5 secs


IGV control trouble alarm only.
If CSGV is greater than CSRGV by 7.5 DGA for 5
secs then GT will trip on IGV control trouble trip.
Action : Check Hyd oil pump discharge pressure. If
ok check the MOOG valve of IGV.

At Preselect mode, The TTXSPL starts reducing
gradually from 191.7 degC towards 136.1 deg C when
no auto load raise/lower command for 2 minutes. If
at any time TTXSP3 is nearly around TTXSPL trip
command will go high and count down starts. During
that time manual load raise / lower ( Status will
automatically changed to PART LOAD ) may be

Open the disconnector switch Q2 by operating the switch for Q2
Open the FKG panel door and release the Key 53R1A. The Key can
be released only if the disconnector switch is open .
Open the SKG panel door and provide the key 53R1A . Then release
the 2 nos of C ( 51R1 Keys).
Open the MKG2 panel door and provide one key 51R1 . Then
close the Q4 by using the switch for it in FKG panel. Similarly
after providing another 51R1 key in MKG1 panel the Q3 may be
closed if necessary.
