ICE CREAM

HOW IS OUR PRODUCT ANY DIFFERENT
FROM OTHER ICE CREAMS?
Ice cream is made by churning and chilling a mixture containing high-fat milk or cream, fructose- or
glucose-based sweeteners, usually in the form of corn syrup, and flavorings such as vanilla or
chocolate. When the mixture freezes, it develops the rich, creamy consistency of ice cream, a food
that can affect your health in both positive and negative ways.
Like all dairy products, ice cream is high in fat. A 1/2-cup serving of a leading brand of the most
widely consumed flavor of ice cream, vanilla, contains 9 g of fat. While fat is a nutrient and the body
needs a certain amount to produce hormones, provide energy and protect organs, too much can
result in cardiovascular disease. Fat should account for about 20 to 35 percent of your total
calories. If you consume a typical 2,000-calorie diet, you'll want to avoid consuming more than 78 g
of fat each day. One serving of vanilla ice cream contains more than 10 percent this amount. Also
consider that a 1/2-cup serving is quite small.
HOW IS OUR PRODUCT ANY DIFFERENT
FROM OTHER ICE CREAMS?
Regular ice cream contains a concoction of synthetic additives and preservatives as well. Take for
instance butraldehyde, a flammable liquid, and amyl acetate, a fruity-smelling alcohol. Both cause a
range of symptoms such as irritation of the eyes and skin respiratory tract, dizziness, cough, sore
throat, and in worst cases, pulmonary edema or accumulation of water in the lungs. Diethyl glycol, a
poisonous liquid with a sweet taste, is added as an emulsifier as well. Acetaldehyde, another chemical
thats used in cherry-flavored treats, meanwhile has been identified by the EPA as a potential
carcinogen and causes the same symptoms as butraldehyde and amyl acetate when ingested.
Regular ice cream with red, purple, or pink hues have most likely been colored withcarmine or
cochineal extract which may cause allergic reactions. Carrageenan, a thickening agent extracted from
seaweeds, is a common additive, too. It is particularly unsafe for small children as they are more
prone to immune system and gastrointestinal maladies which are the side effects of carrageenan
ingestion.
ADVANTAGES OF OUR PRODUCT

An excellent source of energy. Our ice cream is rich in carbohydrate, with about 15 grams in a
one-half-cup serving. A serving also contains about 2 grams of protein, making it an energy-
dense food.
Less risk because we have no artificial flavors.
It is low-fat compared to any other ice cream.
