New memory concept with S7-300

Be careful when writing to the MMC

MMC lifetime restricted by around 100.000 WRITE
accesses
no cyclic call of system function SFC 84 (WRIT_DBL) !
What happens at to much MMC write accesses:
Operating systems sets MMC on Read Only.
A running job will be interrupted with error message.
Diagnostic buffer gets the entry MMC defect.
CPU changes to operating mode STOP.
MMC access with Step 7 is still possible.
A new MMC (copy) can be created with Step 7.
The retentive object will be lost.

Programming devices (PGs)
SIMATIC HMI operator panels (OPs)
Other SIMATIC PLCs
Advantages
The programming device can be connected in
parallel to the different SIMATIC PLCs. This means
that the different PLCs can be programmed and
parameterized with one programming device and
with no further overhead.
Communications with other S7 PLCs without any
additional hardware
Only parameterization is required for global data
communications
The software for system communications is already
integrated into the CPU

CPUs with DP interface (active DP master station)
CPU 315-2DP, 316-2DP und CPU318-2
Passive slave stations or further DP masters can be
connected via the PROFIBUS-DP fieldbus.
Connectable DP slave stations
ET 200M (distributed station with S7-300 I/O)
S7-300 as intelligent slave (CPU 315-2)
ET 200 blocks
S5 I/O
SIMATIC 505 I/O
Other standard-conforming DP slaves
Further S7-DP masters (programming device, ...)
OPs only if the MPI functions are running on the DP

Profibus - Features

Features
Conforms to EN 50 170 Vol. 2
Max. 125 nodes (max. 64 with S7-315/316-2 CPUs)
Token passing bus access method with lower-level
master-slave
Transfer rates to 12 Mbits/s
Data transfer via twisted-pair cable and fiber optic cable
Large range of components for connection to the fieldbus
Provides ample area coverage
Programming of the master and slave devices via the
fieldbus in the case of SIMATIC S7 and M7
Modular expandability; the fieldbus grows with your
requirements
Automatic detection of transfer rate on the slaves
Open system; even non-Siemens field devices can be
connected
Clear architecture; purely process-related configuring*

Assembly - Service & Maintenance

Service & Maintenance Replacing Modules

Parameter assignment data are loaded back into the
module by the CPU
No more setting of DIP switches and jumpers
Modules are plugged easily onto the mounting rail
Self-coding front connector helps prevent installation
of the wrong module
Modules identified by slot numbering

Assembly - Arrangement of the Modules

Arrangement of the Modules

There are only 2 rules:
The power supply module must be plugged into slot 1
(extreme left)
The IM in the central mounting rack must be plugged into
slot 3
