PAGUDPUD FIRE STATION

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT
(CARDIO PULMONARY
RESUSCITATION)
Background:

Heart Disease continues to be the leading cause

of mortality in the Philippines.

Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere. In fact, 80

% of cases outside medical facilities happens at
home where relatives mostly witness.
Unfortunately, less than 10 percent of the victims
survive due to untrained witnesses. Surveys reveal
that majority of bystander who has the idea of
performing CPR are worried that they might
aggravate the victims condition in the process.

Permanent brain damage or death can occur

within minutes if a person's blood flow stops.
Therefore, continuous CPR must be performed
until the person's heartbeat and breathing return,
or trained medical help arrives.
CardioPulmonary Resuscitation

maintain respiration and blood circulation in a person,
whose breathing and heartbeats have suddenly stopped,
