PROBLEM DEFINITION
Background
Problem statement
BACKGROUND
WHY ?
MyTrix Method :
- IF owners of cats fail to spay or neuter their cats,
THEN, the cats may mate with other stray cats and produce offspring in large numbers,
BUT, an extra effort need to be taken spay or neuter the cats.
MATRIZ Method :
- IF the owners of pet cats have a firm stand on having cats without relinquishing them
THEN, overpopulation of cats can be avoided
BUT, population of cats can not be fully controlled as cats breed twice a year and produce
multiple offspring.
BENCHMARKING &
CONCEPTUALISATION
BENCHMARKING ANALYSIS (CONCEPT OF
CAT TRAPS)
Advantages Super low cost Super low cost Low cost Medium cost Above medium cost
Can be self built with Can be self built with Fast setup Easy fast setup Easy super fast setup
household materials household materials Unmanned trap Reinforced steel cage Reinforced steel cage
No set up time Easily set up non- Reliable of capturing (Non-Rusting) extremely durable
required time consuming Unmanned Trap (Non-Rusting)
Doesnt require baits Very reliable of Unmanned Trap
capturing and Has more than 1 trap
securing catch door for catching
Unique design (easy more than 1 cat
loading due to bait Extremely reliable of
holder and access capturing and
door are provided) securing catch with
rescue kit
Constraints Small capacity (space Small capacity (space Small capacity (space Small capacity (space Needs to be set up
for only 1 cat) for only 1 cat) for only 1 cat) for only 1 cat) again after every
Its a manned trap Its a manned trap Needs to be set up Needs to set up again catch
More self effort used (ropes needs to after every capture after every catch Harder loading no
compared to other pulled to trigger) Normal metal No rescue kit bait holder and
traps due to no baits Needs to be set up material prone to access door
used after every capture wear and tear (Rust)
Weak material (net Weak material that Undependable in
may snap from may not sustain well securing catch due to
excessive force) Unreliable (trigger no back door
Unreliable (depends may get stuck or cat (possibility of cat to
on trappers handling) may escape) escape)
