The Emperors Birthday

Description: The Emperors Birthday is a national holiday in Japan and

is celebrated on the day of birth of the current emperor. Currently its
celebrated on December 23, the birthday of Emperor Akihito, who was
born in 1933.
Main activities:
- On December 23, there are public celebratory ceremonies organized
at the Imperial Palace .
-The emperor and empress, as well as other members of the royal
family, appear at the balcony of the palace to welcome all those that
come to the celebrations.

newest public holiday. Since 2016, it has been celebrated on 11
August. It is presumed that if 11 August falls on a Sunday, the following
Monday will be observed as a holiday.
Main activities:
- As it is a modern holiday, there are no particular traditional
ceremonies associated with the day.
-The legislation states that Mountain Day is intended is to provide
opportunities to get familiar with mountains and appreciate blessings
from mountains".
-This is fitting as around 70 per cent of the land mass of Japan is
mountainous, and activities such as hiking and skiing are popular.
