Back pressure turbine

According to the exhaust condition of steam, it is

divided into two categories:-
a)Back Pressure or Non-Condensing types
Steam Turbine
b)Condensing type Steam Turbine
After expansion of steam it is exhausted into
atmosphere called back pressure steam turbine
or non-condensing types steam turbine
otherwise it exhausted into a condenser called
condensing turbine.
Back pressure turbine station
In vsp Back pressure turbine station have two number
of altenator with a capacity of 7.5 mw each.
In this power plant power is generated by the use of
waste heat from coke oven.
By use of waste heat energy efficiency of plant
increases.
Advantages:
The configuration of this steam turbine is very simple
It is relatively inexpensive as compared to extraction steam turbine
It requires very less or no cooling water
Its efficiency is higher as it does not reject heat in the condensation
process
Disadvantages:
The biggest disadvantage of this type of steam turbine is that it is
highly inflexible. The output of this turbine cant be regulated as it
does not allow changing the pressure and temperature of steam in the
turbine, therefore, it works best with the constant load.
The thermal load of this turbine defines the flow of steam mass which
makes it difficult to change the output value. Other methods to
regulate output reduce the efficiency of the overall system.
RINL installed waste energy recovery technologies to recovery waste energy for generation of electricity. RINL is meeting
about 56% of power requirements through utilization of waste energies at present. RINL fully geared to utilize waste
gases generated during expansion of steel works from 3 Mt to 6.3 Mtpa. With this, the share of power generation from
waste energies is to go up to 62%
