MATTER
LEARNING OBJECTIVE 1
Objective Learning objective

To explore the To analyze

environment to identify different elements
matter structure, matter of the creation
properties and changes, identifying matter
recognizing God as the structure and their
creator of Matter. properties.
Biblical principle: God created matter

Genesis 1:1-2
New King James Version (NKJV)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty,
darkness was over the surface of the deep, and
the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Looking into the nature of atoms, creation is
clearly seen. When God created, He brought
order to the universe even in the smallest
things, for God is not the author of
confusion. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
VOCABULARY
1. Atom
2. Electron
3. Proton
4. Neutron
5. Matter

GROUP: 3 students.
Metacognition
Recommendations for students:
Students will conduct an experiment on the changes and
properties of matter and the changes they have
experienced in their Christian life in class, not at home
Students must present the title of the experiment, the
materials to be used, and the description of this
The central idea of each experiment must have an
explanation, and / or biblical application.
Due date: 2nd week of August

Matter experiment
THE ATOM
The atom is the basic building block for all matter in the
universe. Atoms are extremely small and are made up of a
few even smaller particles. The basic particles that make
up an atom are electrons, protons, and neutrons. Atoms fit
together with other atoms to make up matter. It takes a lot
of atoms to make up anything.
Structure of the Atom At the center of the atom is the
nucleus. The nucleus is made up of the protons and
neutrons. The electrons spin in orbits around the outside
of the nucleus.
The Proton :
The proton is a positively charged particle that is located
at the center of the atom in the nucleus.

The Electron :
The electron is a negatively charged particle that spins
around the outside of the nucleus. Electrons spin so fast
around the nucleus. Electrons are attracted to the
nucleus by the positive charge of the protons. Electrons
are much smaller than neutrons and protons.

The Neutron : The neutron doesn't have any charge.

The number of neutrons affects the mass and the
radioactivity of the atom.
Matter exists in three different
states

Matter can exist in three different

states, or forms. You can observe
matter as a

Solid,
Liquid
Gas
SOLID

Definite Shape.
Definite Volume.
Particles close together, fixed.
Little free space between particles
Does not flow easily
rigid - particles cannot move/slide past
one another
LIQUID

Liquids have mass.

Liquids take the shape of their
container and have definite volume.
Liquids take up space.
particles can move/slide past one
another
not easily compressible
little free space between particles
flows easily
GAS
particles can move past one another
Compressible
Lots of free space between particles
Flows easily
Gases spread out to fill the entire space
given and do not have definite volume.
Gases have mass.
Gases take up space.
LABEL EACH STATE ILLUSTRATED.

Activity in class

Respond to this questions before watching the

video.
1.Have ever seen a hot air balloon ?
2.Have you ever wondered how a hot air balloon
works?
3.How does it get up there?
4.How does it stay up there?
(After the video)
5.What kind of staff matter is made of?
6.What is fun about molecules?
7.How does the balloon get back down?
HOMEWORK:
Find out more physical and chemical properties of
matter.
JESUS CHARACTER (Students daily life use, you can take the principle of
the month as your reference)
Principle of the month: Excellence
Song of the Month: Broken vessels
BASED ON: 2 Corinthians 3:5,6
5Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for
ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6He has made
us competent as ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but
of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
What can you reflect on the biblical principle?
What should you do to consider yourself as an excellent person?
