STORY TELLING BY : WINDA NUR A

History of Bloody
Mary
The 'Bloody Mary' legend was common in the early
1970s. A typically performed the "ritual" in bathrooms,
because the bathrooms of our suburban homes had large
mirrors and were easily darkened even during the day
since they had no windows. A familiar 'Bloody Mary' story
was one about a girl who supposedly ended her
incantation with a spiteful "I don't believe in Mary Worth,"
then tripped over the doorjamb while exiting the
bathroom and broke her hip. Mary is said to be a witch who
was executed a hundred years ago for plying the black arts, or a
woman of more modern times who died in a local car accident
in which her face was hideously mutilated.
Story Of Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary, is a legendary ghost or spirit conjured to

reveal the future. She is said to appear in a mirror when her
name is called multiple times. There are many reasons why
bloody mary revenge against us because they said she will kill
you. The bloody mary apparation may benign or malevolent,
depending on historic variations of the legend. She goes by many
names including Mary Worth, Mary Jane, Mary Lou, Mary
Worthington, Mary Whales and Mary Johnson. But you probably
know her by another, more fearsome name: Bloody Mary.
Ritual Of Bloody Mary
Historically, the ritual encouraged young women to walk up a flight
of stairs backwards while holding a candle and a hand mirror, in a darkened house. As
they gazed into the mirror, they were supposed to be able to catch a view of their
future husband's face. There was, however, a chance that they would see a skull (or
the face of the Grim Reaper) instead, indicating that they were destined to die
before they would have the chance to marry.

In the ritual of today, Bloody Mary allegedly appears to individuals or

groups who ritualistically invoke her name, usually by repeatedly chanting her name
in a mirror placed in a room that is usually lit by a candle. The Bloody Mary
apparition allegedly appears as a corpse, a witch or ghost; can be friendly or evil;
and is sometimes "seen" covered in blood. The lore surrounding the ritual (if she is
summoned properly) states that participants may endure the apparition screaming at
them, cursing them, strangling them, stealing their soul, drinking their blood, or
scratching their eyes out.
