rural tourism is tourism activity which is organized and
run by local people and the tourism resources are
natural, cultural, historical, human, and facilities
including pensions and agro farms (UNWTO)

Ecotourism is represented as a form of tourism


developed in natural areas, whose purpose is
knowledge and appreciation of nature and local
culture, which requires conservation and ensures
active involvement, generating benefits for the local
population (Nistoreanu, 2003, pg 72 )
Impact of Rural Tourism
Social and cultural
to stop labor and return migration from city to
place of origin
The more local people involved in tourism, it will
help to meet their own goals of independence
and cultural survival
Economic
Increasing income of local people by providing
jobs, increasing the stability of rural people,
increasing living conditions
Environment
protect and conserve the environment
Contribute to the conservation of environmental
and cultural resources
Opinion
Rural tourism can be aplied in Indonesia
because :
Indonesia has big potential in agriculture, has
a large agriculture land
Indonesia has many skilled farmers
Indonesia has LP2B program and agritourism
can be integrated in it.
Critical
This journal is not explained in detail about
the strengthening of the rural as a tourist
attraction, related to the provision of tourism
infrastructure (accommodation,
transportation,etc), community preparation
for the tourism sector, and how to plan for
sustainable village development.
CONCLUSION
Rural area have the potential aspect to be
developted as rural tourism, but to become a
sustainable rural tourism, the role of all
stakeholders is essential.
Educated local people is very important, because
they have to interact with visitors, they have to
show visitors about culture, customs, and
Tradition, they have the big role to conserve the
environmental and cultural resources.
