POISONED TALK
BY RAYMOND WILSON

Who killed the cock robin? Who killed the flowers?

I, said the worm, I, moaned the wind.
I did him great harm. I prowl unconfined,
He died on the branch of a Blowing acid rain
withered tree Over field, flood and fen.
From the acid soil that
poisoned me.

Who killed the lake? Who killed the forest?

I, boasted Industry. I ensure that it died.
I poisoned with mercury Said sulphur dioxide.
Fish, plant and weed And all life within it,
To pamper mens greed. From earthworm to linnet
