3 BASIC MORPHOLOGICAL TYPES:

Elevated : surface is above the normal plane of the

mucosa.
Depressed : surface is below the normal plane of
the mucosa.
Flat : surface is level with the normal plane of the
mucosa.
 ELEVATED LESIONS
Blisterform : contain a body fluid, tranlucent appearance,
palpation feel soft, fluctuant sensastion
I.Vesicle : < 5mm, contain serum or mucin, colour clear
II.Bulla : > 5mm, contain serum or mucin, colour clear
III.Pustula : any size, contain a purulent exudate (pus),
colour yellowish
 Non Blisterform : solid, no fluid, opaque, palpation feel firm
I.Papulae : < 5mm, contain tissue
II.Nodulae : > 5mm, contain tissue
1.Sessile = Broad based
2.Pedunculated = Connected to the surface by a stalk
III.Tumor : > 2cm, contain tissue, usually sessile
IV.Plaque : > 5mm, contain tissue, very slight raised, flat
top such as the plateu form
DEPRESSED LESIONS
Erosion : Partial loss of the basal cell layer
Ulcer : Tissue disintegration & necrosis with loss in the
continuity of the epithelium that extends beyond the basal
cell layer into lamina propria
Number : solitary, Multiple (separate, coalesced)
Depth : superficial (< 0,3mm), Deep (>0,3mm)
Center : red, yellow, grey
Outline : regular or irregular
Margin : raised/induration, smooth
: > 5mm >
 Atrophy & Scarring : Some depressed lesions are the
result of atrophy or scarring (keloid) and have an
intact epithelial surface
 FLAT LESIONS

Non elevated, non depressed, abnormal colour (blue,

black, brown)
I.Macule : < 10mm
II.Patch : > 10mm

raised margins
Color(s): yellow-gray center with red periphery
Consistency: indurated margins
Size: 0.8 cm 1.2 cm
Miscellaneous findings: six months duration, nonpainful
2. Terdapat plaque, soliter, berwarna putih, dengan
batas tegas, ireguler, berukuran 3 cm, dengan
konsistensi fixed, pada area mukosa buccalis
dextra.
36,37. Terdapat ulcer, multiple, berwarna putih
dengan area kemerahan ditengah, tepi tegas,
reguler, berukuran 2-4 mm pada palatum durum
dextra dan sinistra.
13,14,15,17. Terdapat patch, multiple, berwarna
coklat kehitaman, tepi difus, pada alveolar bukal
dan labial gigi 16 26, 33 35, dan 42 - 43
42,43,3. Terdapat nodul sesil, 4 buah, berwarna
coklat dengan tepi jelas, reguler, pada mukokutan
labialis superior & inferior, serta pda comissura
labialis sinistra.
2. Terdapat papula, multiple, berwarna putih, tepi
difus, pada area mukosa buccalis dextra
memanjang dari regio gigi 33 - 37
42. Terdapat papula, sebanyak 2 buah, berwarna
kuning, berukuran 3 mm, tepi jelas, ireguler pada
mukokutan labialis superior.
17. Terdapat tumor, soliter, berwarna pink, berukuran
3 cm, dengan konsistensi lunak dan mobile, tepi
reguler, pada alveolar labial regio gigi 32 dan 33.
33,34. Terdapat ulcer, 4 buah, berwarna kuning dan
tepi kemerahan dan reguler, berukuran 3 - 4 mm,
dengan konsistensi tepi keras, pada dorsum lidah
dextra dan sinistra.
33. Terdapat papula, soliter, berwarna putih, tepi
ireguler, berukuran 4 mm, dengan konsistensi
keras pada area dorsum lidah.
39. Terdapat ulcer, soliter,, berwarna putih, dan tepi
kemerahan, berukuran 1 cm pada palatum molle
sinistra.
