LPU AND METHODS
TO COUNTER IT
INTRODUCTION:
Food waste or food loss is food that is discarded or
lost uneaten. The causes of food waste or loss are
numerous, and occur at the stages of production,
processing, retailing and consumption.
Current estimates put global food loss and waste
between one-third and one-half of all food
produced. Loss and wastage occurs at all stages.
In low-income countries, most loss occurs during
production, while in developed countries much food
about 100 kilograms per person per year is
wasted at the consumption stage.

MAINTAINED AND UPDATED EVERY
DAY TO MINIMIZE THE FOOD
WASTAGE.
Tell People about the adverse
effect and spread awareness
METHODS and most importantly tell them
that taking seconds is not a

the food produced in India is wasted.

2. In fact, according to the agriculture ministry, Rs. 50,000 crore worth of


food produced is wasted every year

3. India ranks 63 among 88 countries in Global Hunger Index. Wastage of


food is not indicative of only hunger or pollution, but also many
economic problems in the economy, such as inflation.

4. Only government policies are not responsible for the problems we are
facing today, but our culture, traditions and we are also playing a lead
role in this drama. In India, the bigger the wedding, the larger the party
and the more colossal the waste.
Optimisation: Redistribution of surplus food
Indian People have started Roti-Bank in
various cities across the country.

The Roti-Bank initiative is currently operational


in following cities of India:
Delhi.
(Jharkhand)Hazaribagh.
Uttar Pradesh (Mahoba).
