The speech communication process consists of
seven elements :
Speaker > penyampai pesan
Listener > penerima pesan
Message > pesan yang disampaikan speaker
Channel > media yang digunakan speaker
Feedback > respon dari listener
Interference > penggangu proses speech
Situation > situasi
The person who gives the speech
Speaker is the source, or orginator, of a
message that is transmitted to listener.
Speaker bears great responsibility for the
succes of the communication
The person who receives the speaker
message
Listener is the recipient of the message sent
by the speaker
The message is whatever the speaker
communicates to the listeners.
The message is sent in the form of symbols,
either verbal or nonverbal.

Verbal : words
Nonverbal : tone of voice, eyes, facial
expression, gestures posture, and appearance.

Both of them must be appropriate with your

purpose
The channel is the medium used to
communicate the message.

Examples : radio, television, a public address

system, or direct voice communication.
Feedback is the response that the listeners
give the speaker.
It can be verbal or nonverbal.

Examples :
- The listeners are nodding while you are
giving your speech, it means the are in
agreement with your remarks.
- If, on the other hand, they are yawning and
looking at you with a glaxed expression, the
are probably bored or weary.
Interference is anything that blocks or hinders
the communication of a message.
Interference is the situation or something that
disturb the speech communication process.

Examples :
- Horn honking outside classroom or some
coughing loudly inside the room,
- snow on a TV screen that makes it hard to view
the videotape,
- or it could be an air-coditioning breakdown that
leaves the listeners hot and sticky and
preoccupied with their discomfort.
The situation is the context the time and
place in which communication occurs.
Respect Your Audience
Take Every Speech Seriously
Be Ethical
As a speaker you should respect your
listeners, no matter who they are or why they
have come to listen to you.
Nomatter how much the listener is, you as
the speaker must give your speech seriously.
Being ethical means being honest and
straightforward with your listeners.

As an ethical speaker, you should follow two

important principles :
1. Be as well-informed as you possibly can.
2. Be honest with facts and figures
