Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer

science that emphasizes the creation of

intelligent machines that work and react like
humans.

The core problems of artificial intelligence

include programming computers for certain
traits such as:
Knowledge
Reasoning
Problem solving
Perception
Learning
Planning
Ability to manipulate and move objects
Intelligence:
the capacity to learn and solve problems
in particular,
the ability to solve novel problems
the ability to act rationally
the ability to act like humans

Artificial Intelligence
build and understand intelligent entities or
agents
2 main approaches: engineering versus
cognitive modeling
The term intelligence covers many cognitive
skills, including the ability to solve problems,
learn, and understand language; AI addresses
all of those.
AI programs that achieve expert-level
competence in solving problems in task areas
by bringing to bear a body of knowledge about
specific tasks are called knowledge-based or
expert systems.
Often, the term expert systems is reserved for
programs whose knowledge base contains the
knowledge used by human experts, in contrast
to knowledge gathered from textbooks or non-
experts.
It is the science and engineering of making
intelligent machines, especially intelligent
computer programs.

It is related to the similar task of using

computers to understand human
intelligence, but AI does not have to confine
itself to methods that are biologically
observable.
Finance : banking(organize operations,
invest in stocks, and manage properties)
Medicine: use AI systems to organize
various information like staff info, medical
info etc.
Industries
Telecommunications
Neural networks are a form of multiprocessor
computer system, with
simple processing elements
a high degree of interconnection
simple scalar messages
adaptive interaction between elements
Neural networks are a new method of programming
computers
They are exceptionally good at performing pattern
recognition and other tasks that are very difficult to
program using conventional techniques.
Programs that employ neural nets are also capable
of learning on their own and adapting to changing
conditions.
In the human brain, a typical
neuron collects signals from
others through a host of fine
structures called dendrites.
The neuron sends out spikes
of electrical activity through
a long, thin stand known as
an axon, which splits into
thousands of branches.
At the end of each branch, a
structure called a synapse
converts the activity from the
axon into electrical effects
that inhibit or excite activity
in the connected neurons
Character recognition
In Business: Stock Market Prediction
In Medicines: Detection of Cervical cancer
Miscellaneous applications: Weather
forecasting machine, security rating,
prediction of future yield of security etc.
