Radiographic SLIDE
SHOW
SCOPE AND PURPOSE

It is to ensure sufficient controls exist so that NDT activities are

carried out in a timely manner and the appropriate documentation
is prepared, filled and maintained. It is also to reduce the risk of
having unintentional mistakes in this process. This Program will
highlight the outstanding Repairs and Reshoot in all the projects. It
monitors the performance of the NDT service providers by
calculating the percentage of Reshoot and verify their abilities to
submit the reports on time.

Processing of Radiograph
After exposing the film, we process it in dark room.
Developer reduce the exposed AgBr into black metallic
silver. Developer time is 5 minutes at 68 C.
Fixer remove all unexposed AgBr and harden the
image. Fixer time is twice the clearing time.
Finally washing in running water to remove fixer
solution from film.
Drying of radiograph by placing film in a drying cabinet
with warm circulating air.
Manual Processing
INTERPRETATION
Finally interpretation, which is to judge a radiograph
for film quality and weld quality.
(Re-shoot due to Many Reasons and CRS).
Film Quality:
i) Film identification ii) Location Markers iii) IQI
sensitivity
iv) Film Density v) Film physical quality
Weld Quality:
To identify and differentiate various types of
discontinuities on radiograph.
It is important for interpreter to know weld joint
configuration, welding process and welding
position.

What are the common issues that can happen during the NDT
Process and may cause potential serious issue with the Client:

1. RT is being shot by error due to wrong identification by NDT Technician

or Welding inspector or improper identification in the weld map
2. RT can be requested twice by error.
3. RT can be requested but not being shot.
4. Re-shoot has not been shot.
5. CRS has not been done.
6. Outstanding Repairs
7. RT not being completed in the same day as per the request.
8. CRS may be RS ;however, the NDT company tried to highlight as CRS
.(they will try to reduce the %RS rejection)
9. CRS can be an indication of failure to clean properly the joint after
welding completion. ( Debris inside the Pipe and Welding Consumables
also left inside )
Advantages but not limited to the below:
1. Overall monitoring for all the sites by the Area NDT Coordinator.
2. Maintain the history of data entry on each joint at all the sites, any change at
anytime can be known immediately by the Area NDT Coordinator.
3. Alert with sound if the same joint has been duplicated(RT requested).
4. % of Reshoot by each NDT Service Provider
5. % of Reshoot by each NDT Servicer provider in each project
6. % of CRS in each project
7. % of repair in each project
8. Outstanding repair joints in each project
9. Outstanding reshoot joints in each project
10. Repair rate of each Welder.
11. Number of inch-dia. performed by each NDT service provider on each project
12. Back log joints at any site and this will be always up to date.
