The Action Learning Project (ALP) is to be

Action Learning Projects (ALPs) will be carried out in Group. However, it is the responsibility of the
individual student to maintain continual and high quality communication and engagement with industry,
mentors and Industry Interface Project (IIP) office.

2. Each student shall develop a detailed approach document with project details, understanding of the
objectives, timelines, requirements, expected outcomes etc. and finalize their engagements in
consultation with mentors.

3. Project mentors are not tutors.

Since the ALPs are generally strategic or cross-functional in nature, it is important that the student does a
thorough due-diligence on various possible aspects of the scope or the identified issue.
ALPs are owned by the students and the role of mentors is to ask questions to help students reflect on the
general direction.

4. There will be a certain number of interim milestones to be met as determined in consultation with the
mentors. These timelines will have to be strictly adhered to and can only be modified by the IIP office.

6. Students are encouraged to explore innovative and creative ways of addressing various transformational
aspects of the identified business challenge or research issue.

7. The final presentation of conclusions and recommendations of the project will be made to an evaluation
panel. A detailed printed report will also have to be submitted to the institute.
External communications:
Students are encouraged to interact with industry. It is mandatory to keep the IIP office informed on a continual basis about
the ALP engagement being pursued by students.

Attendance: Students are NOT allowed to miss any classes or additional sessions on account of the Industry
Interface projects. Such absence will be treated as an unauthorized absence.

Code of Ethics: Each student is required to submit the signed copy of the S P Jain Code of Ethics form to the Program
Office. (SPJSGM Code of Ethics attached in Appendix A3)

Out of pocket expenses

Visits: Students can make any suitable number of visits to the companies. It has been observed that 4-6 concentrated
interactions with the companies are generally sufficient to make a meaningful study for ALPs.
Scheduling: Scheduling the meetings, timings etc. for the project work is students responsibility.

Meeting with Mentors (faculty and corporate): Students are expected to interact with mentors and update on the
progress of the project on a regular basis (generally every week) and whenever called upon.

Project progress tracking: It is the students responsibility to communicate with faculty and external mentors on a
regular basis and convey the project progress.
