Why this internship ?

I have been contemplating a Major in Business for my

undergraduate studies
Keen to understand the practical nuances of a Work Place
especially a manufacturing set-up
Wanted to acquaint myself with various Business domains
such as procurement, manufacturing, marketing
With these thoughts in mind, is ought an internship with a
large and reputed textile company
 About the company

Shree Rajasthan Syntex is a 36 yr old public limited company , listed at the

Bombay stock exchange with nearly 12000 shareholders.

The company has 3 main Divisions- the syntex division, the texchem division and
polycot division.
Manufactures Synthetic Yarns

Capacity combined capacity of all units 90,000 spindles

 Scope of internship

Understand Various aspects of the Business activity- procurement

Understand the process flow of manufacturing including the critical

variables

Marketing Process and documentation

Visit to the manufacturing units at Dungarpur

Head Office coordination across departments

 My contributions
After observing the working of company my suggestions are
-

1.Since the company is buying most of their raw materials

from Monopolistic suppliers like Reliance industries Limited (
for polyester staple fibre) and Grasim Industries (for Viscose
staple fibre). I suggested that they should explore importing
these fibres from international Petrochemical companies
who makes these products.
2.The company has numerous machines which are
consuming high amount of power and thus a heavy power
cost. I suggested that they should explore alternate
methods of power generation like renewable sources.
They could also use Solar power panels for their non
critical areas like street lighting etc.

3. The company is a large synthetic Yarn Producer . I

suggested that they must make investments in Weaving
Looms so that they could make the Fabric and improve
their margins
Key Learning

Following this work experience

at the textile unit , my conviction
to pursue Business study grew
stronger.

It has helped me validate my

change of subject
