Performance measurement activation and architecture

14 Nokia Siemens Networks RA4133 EN20GLA0

Performance Management Architecture Overview
Performance Management (PM) provides the framework for administering, collecting,
storing and processing of performance measurement data and performance-related
statistical data

15 Nokia Siemens Networks RA4133 EN20GLA0

Administration of Performance Measurements
Groups of counters activated/deactivated
within Flexi Multiradio BTS with NetAct
tools. Only counters belonging to
activated groups are reported to NetAct or NetAct
to BTS Site Manager
AoM PM
In RL10 the measurement interval
(granularity period) is fixed to 15 min
Configurator Reporter
In future the measurement interval is
configurable to 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes or
6, 12, or 24 hours. When the measurement
IOMS
interval expires the current file is closed, a
new one is opened and the old one
compressed
The upload interval triggering upload
Configuration file
towards NetAct is set to 60 minutes (fixed Upload Upload
(Measurement notification
in RL10) activation) PM-
report file
In later releases the upload interval will be
configurable (15, 30 or 60 min) (RL30)
When the reporting interval expires a
Flexi storage
notification is sent to NetAct indicating PM
Multi-radio
that on or more PM files are ready for Measurement
BTS
transfer collection

16 Nokia Siemens Networks RA4133 EN20GLA0

OSS Aspects

PM files structure

17 Nokia Siemens Networks RA4133 EN20GLA0

PM Data Structure
Operator is able to activate
different measurement types
(group of logically related PM-
counters) per Flexi Multiradio Measurement type Z
PM-report file
BTS
One file per measurement
type per granuarity period is
created Measurement type X
After expiry of the upload

merged
interval all measurement type
files are merged into a single
PM-report file which is
uploaded to NMS Measurement type Y

Each PM-report file is stored

for 24 hours before being
deleted
