Separation of soil particles by raindrop affect
and their expulsion downslope by water
streaming overland as a sheet rather than in
clear channels or rills

Few thin channels of rainwater combines

into a deeper stream named rill with its
maximum depth of 0.3 metres.

The rills erodes large amount of weak soil

underneath, leaving the top layer of the land
to be vulnerable to minor eroding agents.
The top layer eventually gives away,
exposing the void formed by the
underground erosion. The voids are called
gullies.

The upgrade to sheet erosion
Shallow drainage lines up to
0.3m depth
Forms due to absence of
vegetative cover plants and
increase in water flow downhill
Rills often progress into
Gullies; or in worst case
scenarios, transforms into
barren wasteland.
 GULLY EROSION
Poor condition of land cover
caused by land clearing,
over-grazing, repeated
cultivation, fire, rabbits,
feral animals or drought
Intense rainfall
Unfavourable catchment
shape.
Produce residue and
increment flooding that
influences wall, ranches,
streets, railroads, ducts and
scaffolds
