AUDIOVISUAL EQUIPMENT

Projection systems such as

slides, video and overheard
projectors are the most
common equipment that
establish the formats for
large screen image viewing. The 3-gun (RGB) Schmidt optical system

The 3 types of video

projectors are:
o The 3-gun (RGB) Schmidt
optical system
o The LCD light valve
o The LCD active matrix
multimedia projector
(for smaller projection
applications).

AUDIO SYSTEMS
Audio systems may consist of two separate sound systems:
o One for speech reinforcement
o One for amplification of program sound material
Loudspeakers should be placed to provide even coverage with
no hot spots or holes for the audience area.
The loudspeaker can be flush mounted on each side of the
projection screen.

When the screen size is too wide, loudspeaker can be placed

below the screen.
Ideal placement of speakers is at the listener`s ear level:
o 4ft(1.21m) seated
o 5ft 10 in (1.78 m) standing
o a compromise height of 6ft (1.83m) is generally acceptable for
both.
VIDEO SYSTEMS
Intended for playback &
viewing of video material,
although sometimes video
recording or video
teleconferencing is
required.
Sources that feed video
projectors and monitors are
typically videotape,
computer generated
images, video document
camera, cable TV, etc.
Teleconferencing is
achievable, with additional
special considerations for
lighting, acoustics, etc.
CONTROL SYSTEMS
They enable remote control of various AV equipment &
environmental functions.
Control panels can be touch screen, illuminated push-button ,
handheld, wired or wireless.
The remote control panel has slide projector system power.
Audio sources to be heard & video sources to be displayed are
control selectable.
Projection screen raise/lower is also a remote control
function.
Environmental control include the selection of lighting scenes,
curtains to open/ close, also controls interfaced with the
mechanical system to enable remote control temperature
settings for heating, air-conditioning & ventilation.
AUDIOVISUAL FACILITIES
INSTALLATION
The overall design, its circulation & seating is the
responsibility of the design team, including architecture,
HVAC lighting & acoustic configuration.
The design by AV consultant should consist of drawings &
specifications that are distributed to qualified AV contractors
for a competitive bidding process.
The AV contractor implements design through fabrication,
assembly, & wiring of the AV systems.
The AV contractors should submit pricing as part of the base
bid to allow bid returns to be compared. This provide the
team & the owner with budget estimates.
Bidders should be given
opportunity to offer
alternatives by means of
demonstrating to the AV
consultant of the advantages
of technical performance,
reliability or cost savings.
The successful bidder is
required to submit shop
drawings, perform pre-
installation of equipment racks
on their premises, then on-site
installation.
After installation, the AV
contractor must perform
proof-of-performance testing
as specified by the AV
consultant.
