First interactive broadband network for school

education in India.

Inaugrated by Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam on 28th July 2005

in Thiruvananthapuram.

Aims to provide telecasting of educationally related

programs to students and teachers of Kerala.
 The scheme reaches out to all its 12500 schools and
about 50 lakh children.

Currently it telecast 17 hours in a day (from 6a.m. to

11p.m.)

VICTERS is playing a vital role as the part of

technology enhancement.
VICTERS has two modes of operations

1. The interactive mode : used for video conferencing

and other such educational training purposes.

2. The non-interactive mode : It is the complete

educational channel. The channel telecasts programs
of educational values , general awareness programs
and content on general interest.

improvement of teaching learning
VICTERS channel is mainly intended to meet the
demand for an interactive satellite based distance
education system for the country.

It narrowed the gap between the facilities such as infra

structure of rural-urban set-up in education.

VICTERS telecast specific curriculum based programs,

regional, national and international programs on
education especially on science and technology.
It bring a substantial change in the method of
spreading knowledge to improve quality in education.

The virtual classroom inculcate a new culture in

television viewership in the country as the students
can now study sitting at home or in classrooms.

VICTERS channel also demonstrated how EDUSAT

could be used to successfully empower teachers.

It offers interactive virtual classrooms that enable the

school students as well as the teachers to directly
communicate with the subject experts and
educationists.
It is also used to expose the children of Kerala to
educational and cultural values.

It also ensures the dissemination of high quality

education to the students and teachers from the
original source.

It strongly reflects Indias commitment to use space

technology for national development especially for the
development of the population in remote and rural
locations
