Definition of ethics

Ethical principles in data collection

Non-maleficence-In practice it means that research participants must not be

subjected to any unnecessary risks of harm Minimizing Harm

Beneficence-is to generate new knowledge that will produce benefits for

participants, for other individuals or for society, or for the advancement of

knowledge.

Confidentiality- must be protected. We must not identify people who

participate in the study.

Privacy is the freedom an individual has to determine the time, extent, and

general circumstances under which private information will be shared with

Respect for People's Rights and Dignity-is rights of individuals to privacy,

confidentiality, and self-determination.
