Harlem Renaissance: a cultural, social, and artistic explosion
that took place in Harlem, New York, spanning the 1920s.
Zora Hurston was the fifth of eight children and was born in
Notasulga, Alabama.
In order to be eligible to attend Morgan College, she claimed
she was born in 1901 and was only sixteen rather than
twenty-six.
