What is a No Objection Certificate?

No Objection Certificate, popularly


abbreviated as NOC, is a type of
legal certificate issued by any agency,
organization, institute or, in certain cases, an
individual. It does not object to the covenants
of the certificate.
Why is it needed?

Under section 21 of the AIR(Prevention and


Control of Pollution)ACT 1981 and under section
25/26 of the WATER(Prevention and Control of
Pollution)ACT 1974 to establish or operate any
Industrial plant it is mandatory to get the
clearance of the State Board(Tamil Nadu
Pollution Control Board).
