What is LDR

A Photoresistor (or light-dependent resistor, LDR,

or photoconductive cell) is a light-controlled
variable resistor. The resistance of a photoresistor
decreases with increasing incident light intensity; in
other words, it exhibits photoconductivity. A
photoresistor can be applied in light-sensitive detector
circuits, and light-activated and dark-activated
switching circuits.
LDR Structure and Working
The snake like track shown below is
the Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) film
which also passes through the sides.
On the top and bottom are metal
films which are connected to the
terminal leads. It is designed in such a
way as to provide maximum possible
contact area with the two metal films.
The structure is housed in a clear
plastic or resin case, to provide free
access to external light.
ACTIVITY LIGHT AUTOMATION
OBJECTIVE:

To Glow an LED with the help of a LDR.

REQUIREMENTS

o ARDUINO UNO
o BREADBOARD
o RESISTORS
o LDR
o CONNECTING WIRES
o LED
o BUZZER
PROCEDURE
First of all Buzzer attach to Breadboard, led attach to Breadboard, 330 resistor
attach to Breadboard from long led long leg, and then ldr attach to Breadboard, 330
resistor attach to Breadboard from ldr one leg. And after that.
The wire connect to the ground (GND).After that wire attach to Breadboard from
GND,
Second wire connect to the buzzer short leg(-), after that the wire attach to the
GND in Breadboard,
Third wire connect to the led short leg(-),after that the same wire connect to the
GND in Breadboard
Fourth wire connect to the 330 K resistor empty leg,
Fifth wire connect to the +5V after that, the same wire attach to ldr empty leg,
Sixth wire connect to the digital pin 12 after that, connect to buzzer long leg(+) from
digital 12,
Seventh wire connect to the digital pin13 after that, connect to 330 resistor empty
leg,
Eight wire connect to the Analog0 (A0) after that, connect to ldr and 330resistor
same column.
The wiring is complete and upload the program to arduino uno.
