Types of Training
Induction and orientation training
New employees are introduced to job situation,
colleagues, companys policies, rules &
regulations, working conditions, privileges,
activities of the company, what the company
does and how it serves the community.

Job training
It increases the knowledge of workers about the
job, efficiency and skill. Performance is
improved, workers are able to learn correct
methods of handling machines and equipment,
avoiding accidents, minimizing waste, etc.
Types of Training
Promotional training
Existing employees are promoted to superior
positions in the organizations, training is provided so
that they may not face any difficulty to shoulder the
responsibilities of new position.

Refresher training
This training is given to the existing employees in
order to provide them an opportunity to revive and
also improve their knowledge. Rapid changes in the
technology ,latest developments in a particular field
etc force an organization for this training. This helps
keep employees up-to-date and ready for challenges

Types of Training
Skills training
This is the most common type of training. It deals with
basic skills ( reading, writing, computing, speaking,
listening, problem solving, managing oneself etc. )
which are identified through assessment. Several
methods ( lectures, on-the-job, coaching etc.) are
available for imparting these skills.

Cross-functional training
This training involves training employees to perform
operation in areas other than their assigned job.
Types of Training
Team training
Team training generally covers two areas: content tasks
( specify the team goals such as cost control and
problem solving ), group processes ( reflect the way
members function as a team e.g. how they interact with
each other, how they participate etc.)

This training deals with :


1) How members should communicate with each other,
2) How they have to cooperate and get ahead,
3) How they should deal with conflicting situations,
4) How they should find their way , using collective wisdom
and experience to good advantage.

Creativity Training

This training helps the employees to think


unconventionally, break the rules, take risks, go out of
the box and devise unexpected solutions. This training
focus on three things :

Diversity training

This training covers two things :

1) Awareness building, which helps employees


appreciate the key benefits of diversity.

2) Skill building, which offers the knowledge, skills


and abilities required for working people having
varied backgrounds.

Literacy training
This training is basically used for employees who
have weak reading, writing or arithmetic skills.
Tutorial programmes, home assignments, reading
and writing exercises, mathematical test etc. are
used to improve literacy levels.

Corrective training
It is given to the employees who do not follow the
rules and regulations of the company. This training
helps managers to reform the employee and handle
the problem with treatment that corrects rather than
punishment.
