DALES CONE OF LEARNING

What is
Discovery
Learning?
Discovery Learning was
introduced by Jerome Bruner, and
is a method of Inquiry-Based
Instruction. In this popular theory,
learning does not equal absorbing
what was said or read, but actively
seeking for answers and solutions.
Discovery learning is a kind
of teaching that is based on the
student finding things out for
themselves,
looking into problems, and asking
questions.
Essentially, it's all about students
coming to their own conclusions
and asking about things in their
course that might not make
particular sense.

Benefits in the Classroom
There are many benefits that can result
from using cooperative
learning strategies. Here are benefits you
might notice after implementing
cooperative learning tasks in your
classroom:

Cooperative learning is fun, so students

enjoy it and are more motivated.
Cooperative learning is interactive, so
students are engaged, active participants
in the learning.
Cooperative learning allows discussion
and critical thinking, so students learn
more and remember what they've learned
for a longer period of time.
Cooperative learning requires students to
learn to work together, which is an
important skill for their futures.
