A toll road, also known as a turnpike or toll way, is a public or private roadway for which a fee is assessed for
passage. It is a form of road pricing typically implemented to help recuperate the cost of road construction and
maintenance, which (on public roads) amounts to a form of taxation.
Toll roads in some form have existed since antiquity, collecting their fees from passing travelers on foot, wagon
or horseback; but their prominence increased with the rise of the automobile, and modern toll ways collect
their fees from motor vehicles exclusively. The amount of the toll usually varies by vehicle type, weight, or C
number of axles, with freight trucks often charged higher rates than cars. One of the criticisms of toll roads is
the additional time they take to stop and pay for the tolls and the additional cost of paying for all the toll booth

operatorsup to about one-third of revenue in some cases. Automated toll paying systems help minimize the S
time lost for collecting tolls and the cost of toll collection operations. Others object to paying "twice" for the
same road: in fuel taxes and with tolls. E
One of the most prominent projects planned on private sector participation on BOT basis, the 27.7 kms Delhi-
Gurgaon Expressway is a 6 to 8-lane expressway built on NH-8. Serving as a lifeline for commuters between
Delhi and Gurgaon, and to the domestic and international airports, it is one of the busiest corridors in the S
country and provides access to over 1 million commuters every day. The 36-lane toll plaza at KM 24 is the
largest toll plaza in South Asia and the second largest in the Asia. It is India's first state-of-the-art urban
T
expressway comparable to any global expressway project in terms of tolling technology, construction quality, U
commuter safety and convenience. The unique lighting system used on the expressway is the first of its kind in
India. That's why we chosen KM24 toll plaza. D

CLIMATE ANALYSIS
THE CLIMATE OF DELHI IS A MONSOON-INFLUENCED HUMID SUBTROPICAL WITH HIGH C
VARIATION BETWEEN SUMMER AND WINTER TEMPERATURES AND PRECIPITATION. DELHI'S
VERSION OF A HUMID SUBTROPICAL CLIMATE IS MARKEDLY DIFFERENT FROM MANY OTHER A
HUMID SUBTROPICAL CITIES SUCH AS SAO PAULO, TOKYO AND BRISBANE IN THAT THE CITY S
FEATURES DUST STORMS (SOMETHING MORE COMMONLY SEEN IN A DESERT CLIMATE), HAS
RELATIVELY DRY WINTERS AND HAS A PROLONGED SPELL OF VERY HOT WEATHER. E
