Lysine is an essential as well critical
amino acid for poultry & pig. Essential
because it is not synthesized in the body
and therefore must be supplemented
through feed. Critical because it is likely
to be low in feeds.
Lysine is one of the most deficient limiting
amino acid for poultry & pig. The
deficiency of lysine results in lower egg
production in layers and poor growth rate
and FCR in broilers.

Synthetic Lysine is unstable molecule; can

not withstand pelletization. Activity of
synthetic L-Lysine is gradually reduced in
room temperature also.
CHEMISTRY OF LYSINE
Lysine is an -amino acid with the chemical formula
HO2CCH(NH2)(CH2)4NH2. This amino acid is an essenti
al amino acid, which means that animals cannot synthesize
it. Its codons are AAA and AAG.
