PROFILES OF THE SUCCESSFUL NON-CPA

BSA GRADUATES FROM BICOL UNIVERSITY

Researchers: Moran, Kristine B. & Zarsuelo, Jamila C.
Where and how
are they now?
Statement of the Problem:
1. What are the profiles of BU BSA students who
were unsuccessful in the CPA Licensure Exam?

2. What are the reasons why these non passers

chose not to pursue attaining the title anymore?

3. What insights can be taken from the lives and

experiences after the board exam of these
successful non-CPA BSA graduates?
Why is this a problem?
 Lack of similar studies in the department
 Past studies are majorly about the CPAs
of Bicol University

 Rarely does it happen that studies are

conducted for those non licensed ones
Disclaimer:

May it be cleared though that this research

paper does not by any means encourage BSA
students to be slack of their schooling. Rather,
the researchers just wish to address their
curiosity with regards to the aforementioned
subject matter – knowing were these successful
non passers are and how they were able to
become the people they are now.
Objectives:
To know the profiles of the selected
successful non-CPA BSA graduates
and the lives they had since the take
of BLECPA
To identify the prominent factors
contributing to their non pursuant of
the CPA title
To determine the relevant insights and
lessons that can be drawn from their
experiences

centers does not give assurance of
someone’s passing the board

The center a reviewee wishes to enroll

in is not a major factor for an
examinee getting high results

the chance of passing the board exam
(Estipona, et al., 2014)

Success Project Survey

Achieving a personal
goal
It is no longer about
the possessions Leading a fulfilling
life
In everything that
you do, make sure
Never underestimate that you do it
the importance of because you are
preparedness. passionate about it
and not because you
feel compelled to do
so.

Take some rest.

Have fun.
Conclusions
Success is not about having titles.
Even non CPAs can be successful in
life.

Having a proper review does not

guarantee passing the licensure
examination.
The performance of a student
during his college years is not a
sole determinant of one’s result
in BLECPA.

Their unfavourable results in

the board exam cannot be
associated to poor liberal
educational background.
Among the reasons behind the non
pursuant of the CPA title,
SATISFACTION IN LIFE
is predominant.
Insights...

Success is defined subjectively

or based on what a person
perceives it to be.

Thus, there is no such thing

as “one size fits all” when it
comes to defining success.
Experiencing failure is just part of the equation of
success.

Non CPAs of Bicol University greatly depart from the

notion that money is the indicator of success.

Being passionate on what you do is very important

in achieving one’s goals.
Recommendations
Future Researchers

They are advised to delve deeper on the

profiles of successful non CPAs from
other batches.

Try to get a greater number of

population for the said study if possible.

Do further studies about the given

subject matter due to the lack of past
related researches.
CPA Candidates

Examinees should be mentally and

physically prepared before taking the
board examination.

Take some time to rest once in a while.

Over stressing oneself can lead to
anxiety and make you perform your
tasks rather poorly.
BLECPA Takers Who Failed

For other non CPAs who really want to

get the license and who are currently
reconsidering the retake of the board
exam, it is recommended for them to:

Retake it the soonest before other

bigger responsibilities pile up and
soon, retaking it would be near to
impossible.
BSA Students
View challenges as
stepping stones towards
achieving success
Know what skills you are
good at aside from accounting
and try to use those hand-in-
hand together with their
knowledge in accounting
Dept. of Accountancy

Provide activities and programs that will

enhance the communication and
managerial skills of the students even
more
