BLOOD

DONATION
ALI AL TARSHA 1
WHAT IS BLOOD DONATION?

• Blood Donation is a voluntary procedure that

occurs when a person voluntarily has blood drawn
and used for transfusions or made into
biopharmaceutical medications

2
BLOOD DONATION IN JORDAN

• Upon research from secondary resources (provided

by KHCC) we concluded that blood donations in
Jordan go to the following:
• Building life-saving space for quality comprehensive
care, Jordan is overwhelmed by the number of
patients seeking treatment. In order to ensure that
no one is turned away due to lack of blood units,
the Jordanian blood bank organises regular
donation plans for donors.

3
BLOOD DONATION IN JORDAN

• Upgrading the medical capacity, Equipping blood

banks with the latest medical equipment, both for
diagnostic and treatment purpose. Also, supporting
existing medical programs and expanding other
medical services.
• And last but not least Supporting public awareness
by educating the community on cancer.

4
ETHICAL DILEMMA

• Most blood donors are unpaid volunteers who

donate blood for a community supply. Many
donors donate as an act of charity, but in countries
that allow paid donation some donors are paid,
and in some cases there are incentives other than
money such as paid time off from work.

5
THE SURVEY

• I conducted a survey on two hundred students

from The American University of Madaba, half of
them male students and the other half female. The
survey was split into two parts, each part consisting
of a group of questions.
• The first part consisted of the following questions:
Have you ever donated blood?

1. If yes, how often do you donate blood?

2. If no, why wouldn’t you donate blood?

6
THE SURVEY

• The second part consisted of the following

questions:
1. What is the impact of blood donation on the
community?
2. Do blood donors understand the process and
benefits of blood donation?
3. Should blood donors be awarded for their
donation?
