INTRODUCTION

 The word “hotel” was by the French to refer to a mansion or public


building. The word “tavern used by the English and American to “hotel”.
The word “motel” an abbreviation of “motor hotel”, was first used in 1926
in Carlifornia.
 Hospitality Management is the field of work or study of managing hotels,
restaurants, cinemas, theaters, travel agencies and similar organizations in
the hospitality industry.People who work in HM need superb
communication and service skills.
 Core subject areas in the HM curriculum include accounting,
administration, finance, information systems, marketing, human resources,
public relations, business strategy as well as specialized topics in the
various areas of hospitality business.
The type of hotel develop

 We would like to choose a beach resort as our hotel business. The name of our
resort hotel is Hollywood Beach Resort. Beach resort is a resort hotel that
located on a coast or continent’s seaside.
 It offers beaches and water sport activities, such as sunbathing, swimming,
snorkeling, scuba diving and surfing.
 It has always been our dream to build a beach resort because we love the
beautiful scenery offered by beach and sea. We want to build a beach resort
that offers a full service with great facilities with a reasonable price.
 We also believe that building a good and competitive beach resort would
help promoting the tourism in Malaysia and simultaneously generating the
economy.
The target market
Elaborate the place of the hotel

 Our hotel will be built on the seaside of Pantai Cahaya Bulan facing the South
China Sea (area 30,000 square metres). The exact location is at Pantai Cahaya
Bulan, 15710, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
 Pantai Cahaya Bulan is located around 10km from the city of Kota Bharu, which
the journey may take about 15-25 minutes by car. From the Sultan Ismail Petra
Airport, the journey is about 30 minutes by car.
 It has a beautiful long and wide sandy beach, a popular spot for family outings
and picnics. It also have a variety of water sports and horse riding. There are
some food stalls and restaurants along the beach, which offers fresh barbeque
seafood.
 There are many famous local and seafood restaurants nearby eg: Medan Selera
Ikan Bakar. The guests could take in the calming sights and sounds of the sea
while enjoying famous local dishes.
 These industries churn out hand-printed batik, kain songket, kites and silver craft.
Target market

 Our beach resort would attract the foreign and local tourists that want to
spend some quality time at the beach with spouse and family without going
too far from the city.
 Our beach resort would be a perfect idea for a honeymoon or a leisure time
with family during holidays.
 Our beach resort would also be suitable for businessmen and corporate
people that want to enjoy the seaside while having job-related
programmes.
 It will also be suitable for company’s annual events.
 be attractive to students from different levels; from middle school to
university level, to organize gatherings or events either formal or informal.
Marketing strategy

 We will consider an advertisement in hotel website such as trivago.com,


asiaroom.com, and booking.com.
 We will set up an advertisement or page in social media like facebook and
twitter.
 We will make sure that the website is mobile-friendly. It is essential that our website
is optimized for mobile search as most of the potential customers are smart phone
users. Our website also has to tap into the possibilities of enhanced local search.
 When a guest is researching things to do in a city, they’ll come across the city’s
official tourism website.
 Establishment of package deal like honeymoon or wedding package deal would
also be a good marketing strategy. We will include different elements, like shuttle
and transport, as well as access to our function room and catering.

Pros

 Beach resort or resort hotel would make a profitable business during peak
seasons like school holidays and public holidays.
 Parents that want to have some fun family get – away time would choose
out beach resort hotel because it’s convenient and spacious.
 A good beach resort will also attract many foreign and local tourist. This
will help in developing the tourism sector in Malaysia, simultaneously
helping to generate the economy growth of the country and its people.
 One of the advantages that is owned by our beach resort is the location
that close to the famous beach in Kelantan. This allows many activities to
be done here, including water sports like water ski, jet – ski.
Cons

 Resort hotel business is a profitable business to do, however during off –


peak seasons, there will be significant decrease in the number of
customers.
 This might affect the sales target. In order to attract potential customers,
we would offer a discount during off – peak seasons.
 The competition among the existing resort hotels would also be one of the
disadvantages to our resort hotel.
 During economic recession, the hotel business would also be affected.
This is because people tend to have a budget holiday than spending
money on fun but pricey holiday.
CONCLUSION

 In the next 10 years, our beach resort hotel will be one of the high ranked
hotels in Malaysia. We will also have several more branches across
Malaysia including in Sabah and Sarawak. Our resort hotel will also be one
of the hotels that are recommended by tourism agencies and will be
published in local and international tourism magazines.
 Generally, our beach resort has a great potential to develop further in
the future. As long as we always try to catch up with the requirements of
our potential customers and continuously improve our service quality, we
believe we can overcome the competition from other resort hotels. With a
great effort, we strongly believe that our 10 years target will be achieved.
