Common Core
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is an educational initiative in the US
that details what K–12 students should know in English and math at the end of each
grade level.

English:

Reading, Writing, Language, Speaking and Listening, and Media and Technology

Math:

Problem Solving, Reasoning, Mathematical Models, etc.

Common core has encountered many criticisms. A leading argument against

common core is the fact that it will “have done little to equalize academic
achievement within states.” Students have also expressed criticisms on how it
doesn’t give advanced students enough to do.

Should the US Federal Government play
a bigger role in Education?

The federal government should play a role in mandating the budget.

The Federal government must be able to play some role in mandating
the budget, however, since the testing phase is just beginning, it will
be left up to the states and local governments, but endorsed by the
federal government.
Which is Better For Our Plan?

Our plan would thrive more under a plan like Obama’s because it
increases the federal government’s role in budget, but leaves it up to
the states and local government. A plan like Obama’s also has more
funding. Also, Obama’s plan effectively puts more money into the
more needy areas, as opposed to spreading the money into all the
areas like Trump.

ideal
