The market is flooded with engineering
graduates Statistics The Institute for Policy Reforms (IPR), a think tank, has released a factsheet on Employment Situation in Pakistan. The factsheet is based on the findings of the latest Labour Force Survey of 2014-15 released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. According to IPR’s factsheet, between 2012-13 and 2014-15 the number of jobs created was 1.4 million. Accordingly, the decrease in the number of unemployed workers was 100,000. As such, by the end of 2014-15, the number of unemployed workers was 3.6 million. A field doesn’t have scope, you
(Students) should have scope • Engineering will definitely have it’s scope when there will be heavy industry of vehicles. Just like Honda, Hyundai, Ford etc. Pakistan has no such industry which can manufacture her own vehicles. This is the reason why mechanical engineering Civil engineering has got it’s scope, right now. Presently, property business is at it’s peak. New towns, societies and infrastructure is under-construction. Pursuing civil engineering will earn more then other engineering fields. Tens of highways and motorways are planned through CPEC—with that lot of apartments and private/public sector buildings plus water dams are under construction. A good civil engineer has serious chances to avail. Chemical engineering has always had an average scope in Pakistan. Chemical engineer can only fit him/herself in the field of medicines. But seriously, pays are not satisfactory for a fresher. Chemical engineers can earn more in Pakistan through their own private business—otherwise there are less chances to have lucrative salary. Aeronautical engineering has just come into limelight. With the addition of JF thunder, PAF is keen to develop some other killer birds. Though scope of Aeronautics is still not too popular but maybe, in next fifteen years, chances will grow in this field. Right now just Kamra Factory isn’t enough to meet the need of all aeronautical engineers. Electrical engineers have chances but again there is less earning. Due to lack of space in govt sector, engineers look uncomfortable in private jobs.
