Here we emphasize more on the links between Rural Urban areas
rather than just communication. Lets take a glance at the different
sectors which act as a link between these two sectors.

 Road ways
 Rail ways
 Water supply
 Electric lines
 Telecommunications
Road ways:

When the distance to be travelled is less these prove to be the most

cheapest and convenient. Road ways are used for communication of
people between Rural and Urban areas every day. As road ways are
laid almost every where we have the advantage of door to delivery
when we use them to transport goods.

The national highways in state are of 4,104 km and state

highways cover 60,453 km. There is 103,814 km of panchyati
roads that connect the small panchayats of state.
Rail Ways:

Unlike road ways these are not laid every where. They are used
to connect only some important places and junctions. But these are
useful when it comes to commutation between distant places.
People living really far away from cities find it very effort
consuming and costly to connote using road ways they find
railways very useful.

Also when we need to transport heavy loads such as Iron from

far located Iron ores to urban industries. Rails will be a very
economical option.
Water supply:

Water is one of the most used natural resource. It is hard to

imagine living without water. As it is so essential care should be
taken that it is supplied adequately to every rural area.

So huge canals and heavy pipelines are laid like a network to

make sure that water is supplied every where.

Usually all the water is supplied to an urban area which later

sends this water through a network of canals and pipelines to
surrounding rural areas.
Electric lines:

Man is so addicted to technology that its now hard to live

without it. So electricity has to be supplied to all villages and
towns.

Electricity is usually sent to a power grid which is located in a

well developed urban area. This is later sent to that surrounding
rural areas through electric lines.
Tele-communications:

With a boom in cell phones technology people rarely use land

lines (the ones connected using long cables). So there is no need to
run long telephone lines across rural and urban areas but still cell
phone towers are needed to be setup in rural and urban areas which
transnit receive the signals.

With an improvement in the tele-communication sector leading

companies like CISCO are implementing new applications such as
video chat. These can be used in schools to create a virtual class
roopom in rural areas to improve education.
