INFRASTRUCTURE
RAW MATERIAL

 Cotton is the most widely used textiles today. After

the cotton crop is harvested the kapas has to be
ginned in order to separate fiber from the seeds.
After ginning, the cotton is available in a loose
opened form.
 For convenience of handling and transposition,
cotton is compressed and packed into bales. The
quality of cotton is judged in terms of its Grade
and Staple. The grading of cotton is done with
reference to impurities such as leaves, sand, dust,
broken, seeds naps, moles and color of cotton.
BLOW ROOM
 A blow room line consists of opening, cleaning,
mixing and lap making, machine. The cotton is
received in the mill in hard pre bales which
contains several impurities.
 The blow room machinery performs function of
opening hard pressed bales of cotton and
cleaning the cotton of impurities. Trash and
foreign matter is to be extracted from the
cotton with the least amount of lint loss.
MIXING

 These different varieties of cotton are mixed

based on various proportions as specified by
the Factory Manager.
 These proportions vary for each order to bring
the required as specified by the client. This
unloading of cotton and mixing comes under
the supervision of the CS.
BLENDING

 Raw materials used in spinning mails re always

in homogeneous in their characteristics due to
area to area and pick to pick. For the purpose
of getting good regular yarn it is very important
to blend or mix different types of cotton.
AUTOMATIC MIXING

 In this process cotton from the bales picked up

by the machines and that is mixed
automatically.
 For this purpose different type of machines are
used which includes “A11 Blend mate”.
CARDING
 In yarn production, a process of separating individual fibers,
causing many of them to lie parallel and removing most of
the remaining impurities. Cotton, wool, waste silk, and man-
made staple are subjected to carding.
 Carding produces a thin sheet of uniform thickness that is
then condensed to form a thick, continuous, untwisted
strand called sliver.
 When very fine yarns are desired, carding is followed by
combing, a process that removes short fibers, leaving a
sliver composed entirely of long fibers, all laid parallel and
smoother and more lustrous than uncombed types. Carded
and combed sliver is then spun.
COMBING
 Combing is a method for preparing carded fiber
for spinning. The combing is divided into linear and
circular combing. Noble comb is an example of
circular combing.
 French comb is an example of linear combing. The
process of combing is accompanied by gelling, a
process of evening out carded or combed top
making it suitable for spinning. Combing separates
out the short fibers by means of a rotating ring or
rectilinear row of steel pins.
DRAWING
 At this stage, it will be pulled the sliver lengthwise
direction over each other. Thus, it will cause it to
be stronger and thinner in production which is very
important in evenness of the yarn.
 If there is any faults occur during process, it will
still pass into the yarn. Most of manufacturer will
use blending process where two or more different
types of fibers will be blended to form a yarn.
Common type of blend use is Cotton/Polyester
combination, by doing this it will not only reduce
the cost but also increase the performance.
SPINNING
 The Production System.
 The production policy is both make to order and make to stock. i.e.,
for the manufacturing of yarn only when the order is placed, the
specified quality yarn is produced.
 Quality is checked at each level, starting from the quality of raw
materials to the final output i.e., yarn.
 Yarn quality levels matching to USTER 5% standards
 Samples are taken from each process, for every 2 hours for testing.
 They produce yarn of only 60s. In this 60s count refers to the good
quality tread. This count determines the strength of the thread.
 They have continuous flow of production i.e., only when a process is
over, the next process can be continued.
FINDINGS
 The employees are satisfied with the monetary and non monetary
benefits.
 The company growth is growing successfully in every year.
 The factory has been affected by the shortage of raw material &
power supply.
 There is take in human resource policies.
 Safety timing and specialty.
 Improve the quality of the product by purchase of new machinery.
 Implement new strategies by increased technology.
 Need to improve the working condition of the people who are involved
in this profession.
 The company has to provide transportation facilities to workers.
SUGGESTION
 Knitting process should for done by roll.
 The thickness of cloth should be said us GSM. This
is based on Yarn counts.
 After the process done, they pack their products
as customer preference.
 The company also has to provide health and safety
measure like instruction about the machineries
 Job security has to provide to the workers in the
organization.
CONCLUSION
The training that I underwent in SM Textile, Tirupur
has enabled me to understand the functioning of
an organization. It also helped me to identify the
activities carried out by various departments of the
organization. It enabled me to gain a practical
insight on how a job is performed. The industrial
training has provided a valuable knowledge about
the working of the organization and management.
It helped me in identifying the problems faced by
an organization.
