STUDENT IS A FULL TIME JOB

• To be a successful student, you should be spending two hours of time outside of class for
each hour you are in class a week
• If you are in class 15 hours a week, that’s 30 hours a week you should spend spend studying
• Take into consideration your other commitments!

15 hours in class + 30 hours of studying = 45 hours a week.

HOW TO USE TIME EFFECTIVELY
• Set plan/estimated time to complete assignments
– Helps you stay on track
• Find a regular study place and develop a routine
– Routine will become a habit
• Avoid Distractions
– Turn off your phone, stay off social media and other technology
• Use a planner and stick to it!
– Keep filling out your planner as the semester goes on, don’t depend on remembering everything!
• Don’t be afraid to say no
– Using you time effectively including prioritizing assignments.
• Break up bigger assignments into smaller parts
– Instead of reading a 60 page chapter in one sitting, break it up into 3-4 smaller sections
GOAL SETTING

• Give yourself achievable goals

• Reward your self for reaching your goals

Example:
For every chapter I read, I can watch an episode on Netflix.

For every page of my paper I write, I can take a 20 minute break.
