INTRODUCTION

The radio propagation models are very important while planning for any wireless
communication system.

The radio propagation model defines the behavior of the signal while it is transmitted from
the transmitter towards the receiver and path loss

The path loss models plays significant rule for predicting the basic elements for network
planning process in mobile radio, such as cell parameters, coverage area, interference
analysis, and frequency assignments
PROPOSED WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY

Long-Time-Evolution “LTE” is a standard technology for wireless communication which is

applicable for high-speed data for mobile phones

LTE technology has been proposed to meet the rapidly growing user requirements in
telecommunication field.

LTE depend on multiple-input-multiple-output antennas, which are more complicated than

those used in previous generation modules and modems
CHANNEL MODEL AND NETWORK PLANNING
In this project the channel models used are HATA model which is used for the 800MHz and for the
1800MHz, COST 231 HATA model is being used. The environment modelled is rural area.
HATA model
. the path loss in dB for rural environment is found using the
formula given below

L50 (urban)  69.55  26.16log fc  13.82log hte  a(hre )

a(hre )  3.2(log11.75hre )  4.97 2

Where 𝑓𝑐 is in MHz, d is in Km, ℎ𝑡𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 hre are in m.

Linkm arg in  EIRP  Gr  L  PL  Psen
assuming that the EIRP=61dBm, Gr=5dB,L=3dB and Psen=-105dBm we get 154.16dB.
COST 231 HATA model
the path loss of the 1800MHz channel is calculated using the formula shown below

Where C is 0dB for rural area. The path loss is found to be 158.17dB. This is used to calculate the link
margin which is found to be 9.83dB.
PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT TECHNIQUE

In this project the performance of the system is enhanced using reconfigurable antenna which
is an antenna that capable to reconfigure its characteristics.

frequency reconfiguration has attracted important attention due to the introduction of future
wireless communication concept such as cognitive radio which employs wideband sensing
and reconfigurable narrowband communication.

In our project we are using 1800MHz as the main frequency and 800MHz is proposed to
enhance the performance in rainy weather.
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
In the calculation we get the path loss of 1800MHz frequency is bigger than the 800MHz. This can effect
when there is rainy weather which increases the losses. Also the calculated link margin for the 800MHz is
much more bigger than 1800MHz, this shows that 800MHz is more effective to use when there is a rain so
that the communication is not effected.
CONCLUSION

This project presented an overview of the propagation models of LTE

wireless network at 1800 MHz for comparing 800 MHz use in rural areas

In this study we discussed Okumura model and HATA model which are suitable for LTE
technology

Comparison and analysis both channel models by using frequency reconfigurable system
technique has been discussed
